Yep,def catch up this time. I'll drive there on the day,its not far for me.Biggest worry is staying awake on the way home - as with the Talmag... At least I'm riding a decent bike this time, not my camel of an HT5 replica.

Well I will be going if I can source or get modified an output bearing for my Burman box. The only bearings I can find are too big. For those who don't know its an English size bearing with a metric bore.

  • 4 weeks later...

Its a British bike 4 stroke only road trial.

I hope I can get a return spring for my gearbox tomorrow. When I was assembling the gearbox last week I got all the covers on and tried the gearchange . it felt a bit funny so i took the cover off to find one of the 2 return springs had snapped. AAARRRGGGHHHH. I couldn't find one anywhere. So a good few days were spent and eventually I tracked some down in Australia . I ordered his entire stock up (4) which cost me £38 delivered. They may or may not be here by this weekend so another plan was needed.

I popped over to a local spring makers last week and showed him the remains. He said yes he could make me some up but they would be in round wire not square. There is a minimum charge and he could me me 4 up for the minimum charge. So I so I said go on then make me 4 . They should be done tomorrow so fingers crossed one way or another I will be mobile again this week.

Oh and the minimum charge I spoke of

Well thats a grand total of £22 for 4.

What a result.

Deryk I'm afraid to say I haven't seen Pete for a while. But I don't think he has made much more progress. He has a mobility scooter to get around so he can now at least leave the house when he is on his own. I will pop over to see him soon.

The good news with the bike is that my new springs from Australia turned up today so I didn't need to pick up the newly made ones. I will pick them up later in the week. I got the box back together and noticed another issue. The return springs actually catch on the gearchange pawl spindle. So I have had to knock this out and then file a flat on this and move it round so the split pin clears. This took me 3 or 4 attempts at rebuilding the box before it was all together. But we seem good to go. I just need to stick the box back in and then attach a horn and my tool rack and then we are ready.

By the way my number is 54 if you see me Jon.
