Yes I remember one that Donald Buchan rode in the SSDT and finished in the mid 60's I have a picture of it but it is a slide and cannot get it on here as I would need the slide scanner to work on the new system I am now using

Hi,

Anyone with interesting images on slides and would like them converted into digital images contact me through 'offroarchive@gmail.com'.

I have all the equipment needed to convert any slide - or film - black/white or colour - negative or positive - any size 35mm upwards - to a digital image,

I'm sure we could do a deal that we would both appreciate! (Like free, gratis and for nothing - maybe...........)

Cheers

Helduns were made in the Birmingham area I think, in mid to late 60s. They did a scrambler and a road racer as well as a trials bike, all of 65cc I recall. I believe the trials version was called the Heldun Hammer, perhaps the only bike to be named after the trials rider's tool of choice.

Hi,

Following the earlier postings on the Heldun, naichuff kindly sent me a CD with various images, including one of D Buchan of Perth, riding his Heldun!

Using my equipment I have extracted an image that may give inspiration to anyone needing information on the Heldun.

On a serious note, in order to publish my own magazines and books at an acceptable standard I found I had to learn to do everything myself, just presenting a digital format of each magazine to the printers for them to feed into their massive electronically controlled printing presses so they could press the button and within hours 2000 copies of an 80 page magazine came out of the far end, printed, folded, trimmed to size and packed in boxes of 100 magazines........

I didn't do it to prove I was clever - I did it because I had to create the magazine in my spare time, because I needed my day job to keep a roof over our heads and feed a young family, so I couldn't afford to pay someone to do all the pre-press work.

I had massive and truly appreciated help from the professional pre-press department at the printers who carefully answered all my questions and guided me as to how to achieve the best results - they helped me to decide which slide scanner to get, which computer to choose and which publishing software. This was back in the 1980s and the electronic side of printing was still in the development stage, don't forget.

Now here's the crunch, I still have all that hardware - I can still scan any slide, film, black and white or colour(Fuji, Kodak, Ilford or whatever), negative or positive, any size, 35mm to full plate (8" x 10"-ish) so if you have any that might add to the history of motorcycle sport - just email me - let's talk.........

But back to the Heldun, here's the 'before and after' of naichuff's generous help, enjoy.
