Hi everyone

My names Steve,i live in Spain.

Ive recently bought a part restored 247 for me and my son Dan to work on [ill try and post some pics].

Im just doing a dry build at the moment to see whats missing.

My question is,does the exhaust header pipe have to be screwed into the barrel before the engine is secured.

the engine is in at the moment and the screw in clamp is hitting the frame.

Thanks Steve

Hi Steve, i have two 247's that i am rebuilding just now, i would think that the exhaust header should be able to be fitted or removed while the engine is in place, i removed my header and exhaust while the engine was in place.

Could be that you may have to loosen the engine mount bolts so as to move the motor slightly to make things easier for fitting.

cheers

John.

Steve - it should just come straight off.

There is a bolt near the carb on the inside and the threaded clamp / manifold .

Maybe show us some pics.

John - I'll try to post those footpegs mounts tomorrow.

Cheers

Thanks for the reply Wobbler

confusion now reigns.

Theres no way the exhaust clamp will screw in with engine bolted up,so ive lifted the engine the clamp fits.

with the bike came a spare barrel and piston, the same clamp is too small for inlet.

Have i got correct barrel on? did montesa change inlet sizes.

the bike is a 77 matching nos 21m 246++

im waiting for the manual to arrive.it might shed some light on the situation.

Ill try and post pics tomorrow

Many thanks

Steve

John- I think in motion do a tapered roller bearing for the headstock now.

I'm going to change mine - much better then the loose ball bearing type.

Looks good - but your other in the back ground doesn't look too shabby either !!!!

Cheers

As always
