Hi

I have just picked up a 198a (I believe)

It has a square section swing arm and not the round reinforced one you would expect......

Could it be a cross over model from a-b

I will get some pics up tomorrow night and pop them up...

I was just after some thoughts ..

hello sounds like some 1 as put the 198B 199B later S/Arm on the 198A the box section S/Arm was only introduce in 1981 witch was the 198B model. i have a 198A frame and S/Arm spare with new bushes in them. but i do have 2 spare 199b S/arms i was thinking off doing the same on my 198A frame they are stronger. but i do like to keep them original. hope this helps.

Hi I'm pretty sure it's a 198a...i am definitely going to check tomorrow...i think the frame was originally blue and has since been over painted white..its hard to tell it's a bit of a mess...it does have a rear frame loop...perhaps somebody wanted to copy a 198b. like I say I'll get some pics up tomorrow...thanks for the super quick reply

if it has the loop then the frame will be the 198A frame the Bs do not have the loop as you know. the only way to tell is looking at the engine number sounds to me it just may be the S/Arm off the 198B or the 199B

I thought it looked crude...

I will have to keep an eye out for a original A model swing arm. Like you I would rather have the original item.....also I need a left. hand side side panel would prefer genuine old aged item. Do you know where I should look first.

It's an ally tank
