Hi, heard all sorts of yays and nays about the 280. Has anyone lived with one (or two) and decided to keep with the marque ? Good and bad points , pref from owners ! Its near the top of my list. Over 50s clubman level rider.

had 2, a 2011 280 which was fantastic (no issues for me but I know some had gearbox troubles) and now a 2013 Factory R which is again fantastic, although I have had a couple of issues they were not really big enough to put me off the brand. I would buy another in a heartbeat if the wife would let me!

I've had a 2012 std bike which I loved and now got a 2013 Factory R

and I love that as well, I still dont seem to have the starting knack

but I can live with that, it still makes smile when I ride it.

excellent suspension, loads of grip, ease of maintance.

Only other bike I would consider would be a vertigo

Got a 2014 300 but only done 3 trials so far.

Can't really fault the bike though it takes one devil of a kick to fire up.

There's a few about up here and I think the problems of the earlier ones have been well documented.

I have been assured by my local dealer the 14 ones the bike.

He had a rider last year did a full season including the 6 days with no issues, the lad replaced it with a 15 one.

Like the fact the rad doesn't get full of mud and the grip it gets is unreal.

Great air filter set up and no Carb to worry about.

Also i like to be a bit different,

I had a 2013 280i,which was good. Only minor issues really in my 9 months of use, worse being a new selector fork needed in the gearbox which to be fair was the result of a bash on the gear lever (GG's have the same fundamental weakness).

I replaced the 280 with a 2014 300i and in my opinion this is a big step forward both in terms of power deliver i.e. more power but smoother delivery and the gearbox, which just selects better somehow and as I understand it there have been little or no problems on the 14 models.

The bikes ride really neutrally with have fantastic suspension and grip grip grip!! The only slight weak link to the bikes in my opinion is their clutches, which are very sensitive to clutch pack thickness and despite regular oil changes always seems to have a little drag present. I have a spare clutch pack on which I have undertaken the beta clutch mod (see beta forum) so will be interesting to see if this solves the drag as the standard fibre plates (2014) have very little oil circulation space between the friction tabs. Will update when I get around to eventually swapping the pack in.

In conclusion, I would have another without question and would recommend you stretch to a 2014 if your funds can bear it.

I currently have a 2013 280i (which is actually for sale ;) ) and i think it is excellent and would recommend the 280 to anyone. I have owned it from new for a little over a year now.

They are perfect straight out of the crate. Yes there has been issues but they have been rectified very quickly by Ossa UK, who have been absolutely fantastic. All changes have been upgrades from the 2013 parts to 2014 parts so there will be no more problems.

The ride is outstanding, suspension is mega and the power delivery is amazing. So very smooth and the way it finds grip is just mid boggling. The position of the air filter and air box is really good at keeping muck and dirt out.

They are still in early stages of development but compared to my last bike, which was a 2011 GG, i prefer the Ossa.

I have. 14 Explorer (same bike with extras)

142 hours- great!

See my recent post, but I trail ride mostly so perhaps some different impressions.

A hotter plug and a good kick results in quick, easy starting.

I did have to set the TPS at about 100 hours. It was running rich and harder to start.
