Its not bad that . If i was running the event id want to see a bit of money in my back pocket. Its only fair . Good luck to them and thanks for going to the effort to make it all happen. It takes a lot more effort and cost than a club trial .

The World round in 1988 cost the Waterlooville club tens of thousands ...and they never recovered.

Hosting a World trial is not to be sniffed at and deserves a return.

£60 for two Adults and Two Kids to get in ???? and this is a DISCOUNTED rate ? + Parking ??? You want to get the crowds back at World Trials ? Good Luck With That One .

£50 actually. Adults, 2 x £15. Kids 2 x £10. In the grand scheme of things, £50 isn't bad for a family day out.

Do you pay for World rounds in other countries if so how does that compare to the British round?

It is very commercialised the sport now who was the first to charge was it L&M at Hawkstone and could it be done with volunteers FREE I doubt it?

We've had this conversation before, more than once.

In some places it is free because they get support from local authorities, tourist boards etc. In others it isn't. Some places don't have to go through all the red tape, risk assessments etc etc that we have to go through here - all of which cost time and money.

Could it be done free using volunteers? Not a hope. Most of those who help out at these things are volunteers anyway, but the cost isn't the people, the cost is the demands placed by the FIM and all the other things that have to be paid for. If it could be done cheaply or even free you'd have people queuing up to run them, but we're not exactly seeing that happening, are we?

I'm with James on this one. If someone is going to all the hassle, time and effort to put these things on then why shouldn't they walk away with a few quid in their pocket?

Also agree with James.

To give you an idea, the prices in Belgium last year:

under 16: free

in pre sale: 5 euro pp

At the day: 8 euro pp

And for 20 euros you could bring your own trials bike to follow the riders between the non-stops

Wow

That's a bit of an eyeopener :hyper:

It's a bit like the UK bike shows - NEC, say £20 now

Intermot in Germany (6x the size) ~ less than 10e

Considering the financial risk the Penrith organisers are taking and the effort, time and skill involved then the ticket prices are perfectly reasonable and many would think that to see the best in the world close an absolute bargain compared to the F1 GP or premiership football.

Having said the above I also agree with the poster who feels the cost of a family attending the event is too high. I believe there is a good argument for allowing a second parent and non earning children in at greatly discounted rates.
