I did both my pairs myself using bolt on billet aluminium riser blocks for 7/8 bars.

I cut the old mounts off and filed them clean. I had a friendly welder chap build up lugs in the underside web to take the bolts that hold the risers on. The M10 bolts were in the center of the risers and they came very close to the underside web so the lugs were essential. Other types of risers with different fixings may not need the lugs but I liked the fixing method and style of my ones.

I'd recommend getting the bars forward whatever method you find works for you as it's a simple and effect modification.

I made a new top nut and bottom spacer to fit yokes from a 243 to my 240, they would work with 241 yokes and I think they would work with 245 yokes too (I have a 245 I could measure to make sure);

I was thinking of making a batch if there was enough interest.......

Interested, I'll take a set if it's not too pricey. Nice work!

Isn't it strange how we can convince ourselves, in accordance with fashion, that we need a mod on the bike that will improve our riding. I can’t claim not to be guilty of this – back in the mists of time I bought a set of handlebar clamps for my 348, these being sold by Sandifords to bring the bars back closer to the rider, thus, it was said, improving the steering. Plenty of people used them so that “must” have been right.

I’ve still got ‘em and I’m sure something similar would be very easily made and do the job you want quite simply if fitted the other way round. They were basically two bits of alloy with three holes in them. Then when fashion changes again the mod is easily reversed.
