Training Center

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Can anyone recommend a training center? I am new to trials and can find nowhere to practice so I have to enter trials to learn. After my first one I learnt so much and was confident and looking forward to the next. However when I got there the weather was rubbish and the sections were huge. I crashed on the first section I tried and then retired from the trial knowing I did not have the skills required for the conditions or difficulty of the sections. Even people I saw clear every section on my first trial where falling off!!!

So I need to find some training so that I can restore my confidence and learn what to do properly.

I live in Cambridgeshire but can travel anywhere, well within reason.

Thanks in advance

Depending on how far you wish to travel there's a practice ground for members at Milton Keynes and also at Earl Shilton there maybe one closer to you, but if I were you, I'd go and have a chat with the guys at your local trials specialist in March, they might be able to point you in the right direction.

Which coloured route were you doing? as a beginner you should be on the white route.

Hi Ourian,

Thanks for the replies. I spent the morning searching for training places and never found either of these. Milton Keynes is about an hour away so sounds good. I have emailed them for more details.

I will try the trails center in March again but he is very difficult to get hold of :-( And didn't know of any practice places at all.

The routes were not colour coded but they have additional gates for the harder routes. So I was doing the easiest route possible but they were all very difficult, especially for a beginner.

Thanks

Arfur

inchperfecttrials in the trough of bowland near preston been a few times matts brilliant and so are his staff . look on his website there are courses to suit everyones ability and 1v1 small groups half day full days out you could want really.

Preston from cambridge when hes saying mk is just ok?

Please go to milton buzzard Ourian next time they have an event and enter the easiest BLUE route. They are a great bunch of guys and im surethey will help. Ditto earl shilton. Big advantage of these two clubs is they have their own practice areas.

Thanks to all for the replies.

The ones up north are a little too far to travel so I will give Milton Buzzard a call tomorrow and see what I can get sorted.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Hi Arfur

If it was the Dabbers trial at the Corton trials park on Sunday then don't get disheartened !

The conditions with the rain early on made the going very slippery , and the second lap was the worse but it dried out a bit for the third lap. The CoC did drop the 2nd section for safety issues and a couple of section were altered to make them rideable in the conditions.

Rest assured you won't be the only rider finding it very testing.

Dabbers do arrange a training day near Downham Mkt but this is usually later in the year. Also look on Eastern Fourstrokes asso site as they do training days over near Sudbury on regular basis.

Don't get dispondant though! Even after a full year of riding I still found it tough as did my old Montesa.

If I find out any times we can get out for a practise then I will PM you and see if you can make it.

Cheers

Dave

Hi Dave,

It was indeed the trial at Corton that I went to. It was a bit of a step up from the one I went to at Santon. I had a look around and decided I would go straight past section 1!!! Looked at 2 & 3 and watched lots of people do 2 without too much difficulty, then went for it. I almost made it to the top of the last climb but ran out of power and stepped off. The bike made it half way back down, I on the other hand made it all the way down!! I then missed 3, and went round to look at 4 and 5. By which time it started properly raining, I recognised a couple of people that were good at the last trial and saw them fall off in 5 so decided that was enough. Chatting to others there I found I was not the only one to retire early. All credit to you if you completed all three laps.

I have come out more determined to master this trials lark but realise that I have a lot to learn.

The next training session with the Dabbers is not until Sep / Oct time as I asked on Sunday.

If you get an opportunity to get out somewhere then please do let me know as the only way to learn is to get amongst it.

Thanks

Arfur

Mud around the south/east can be a complete B at times but as the better and drier weather comes it'll be much better for you im sure. Get down to m buzzard and see how you get on, if its close enough join up and you can practice every day pretty much.

Ditto earl shilton.

Also Earl Shilton also do training days, they would be ideal I would think, and only £20 for the day,  great value.

There's  actually one running this Saturday, I'm sure if you where to get in touch with the club they'd book you a place.
