Ripon Motor Club. 6th Acklams Beta Summer Series trial, Low Skelding,
Saturday.
The weather played a wicked hand at remote Low Skelding on Saturday
afternoon as one hundred and fifteen Acklam Beta championship contenders
lined up to ride the sixth event in the summer series. The dark clouds
drifted over.The organiser deemed that three laps would suffice. That was the signal for
the sun to appear. The ground though was treacherous as Nigel Simpson found
out to his cost when a bog monster grabbed his right leg. Of course the
small wheels category had ridden their allotted four laps and five sections
in the upper meadow where average climbs and turns on grass did test
eighteen boys and girl. On the main course Bevan Blacker excelled over Rob
Bratley and Aldis Blacker. The final round of the Acklams Beta Championshp
will take place at Prospect Farm, Haverah Park, Harrogate on Saturday,
September 13 starting at 2.00 pm and 3.30 pm. The next major trial will be
the Artie Ratcliffe Vase novice trial at Mill House Farm, Winksley on Sunday
August 30. Start time is 11.00 am
