Ossa Future

Hi all!

Just checking around if anybody has any news about Ossa.

The rumour says they have moved into a new "factory (setting up a production line)".

However no press releases or info/sign/rumours of a 2016 model is not that promising.

They can't afford another no-sell year.

Well Nige, what do you say about GG then, loads of bikes sold, most popular trial bike i would guess, still sank!

A lot of your posts are interesting, but then you fire off one that makes you sound a right T*T

I think in the short time they were going they sold a reasonable amount of bikes, it was the dodgy build quality etc that harmed them.

And a littlle spendthrift as well!!

GG had/has (did) but they still came back, (well not now!)

I would buy one if they start up again...and i've had loads of aggro with them.

Canada - Ossa was an example of a company created with the aim of milking the EU handout cow. The guys behind the company were well oiled weathered businessmen not passionate enthusiasts . The money they'd get on the sale of bikes was nothing compared to the cash they obtained. From day one the company never stood a chance of survival past any period of grants and subsidies . People were taking as much as they could . Ossa was not about making bikes . It was about generating confidence to borrow more and more.It was about borrowing big money and writing it off ... and asking for more. They were walking dead way before the GG merger. The merger just had them on life support for a while.

The customers have passion for the bikes , the owners did not. It was a vehicle to obtain grants from a flush EU.

Well time will tell. And with no EU money no JTG, TRS or Vertigo. Ossa still sold well; had a somewhat different bike; could have made it...

Regarding GasGas and build quality, there were no GasGas frame in the early 90´s that survived more than 2 years of competition without needing welding.

The first TXT pros  broke down during their run in. Maybe not build quality just the use of components with shorter life length..

Strange however For GG not to  make it with their strong market position both in trials and earlier in Enduro. Must be really poor managment...

Surely, if you design a bike like that, you must have some interest, if just for the euro dough you would maybe build a trs or something same as everything else, so quick turnaround for it. Seems bit strange to go for something so different and not have a real desire to carry on??

Who knows??

They are a great bike, the only mistake I think they made was not including the leads for remapping and diagnostics. With the leads they are very easy to maintain and keep running at optimal level. I would have another if they resurface, if not I'll keep the one I have and enjoy it!
