Now it stood for 18 years and the sediment in the tank has blocked off the fuel , what is the best way of cleaning this out ? tribet Posted February 5, 2016 Report Share Posted February 5, 2016 Very much doubt it's a dry clutch,surely it should be obvious.Fill the tank with ball bearings and diesel and agitate until you are happy it's clear,flush with petrol. smokey125 Posted February 5, 2016 Report Share Posted February 5, 2016 You could try something like this, http://www.rickswoodshopcreations.com/miscellaneous/rust_removal.htm we've done it on a couple of tanks. Works quite well if the tanks not too badly corroded. You don't have to put the tank in a container but you can fill it with the solution and hang your anode in the filler hole. If it's very bad your best bet is to cut the bottom out of the tank and get it shot blasted and weld the bottom back in and coat it with an one of the ethanol proof liners. jonnyc21 Posted February 6, 2016 Report Share Posted February 6, 2016 (edited) If it's really bad the baring trick with diesel to brake up the big stuff, flush with petrol/gas then soak in vinegar.
