The gas light is always on, but the tank is full...and I have gone through more gas than is just in the lower tank (2L I heard) and I haven't run out. Any ideas? BTW, the other lights work for blinkers and lights, so I don't think the bulb swapped position. I think there are only 3 bulbs (nothing in top right). I do see that there is a sensor in the bottom tank and appears to be connected to the correct light (green/black wire if I remember). Thanks! lotus54 Posted April 19, 2016 Report Share Posted April 19, 2016 I'm guessing a wire jacket has been rubbed off and it is grounding. No float, but perhaps some corrosion could cause issues. I can't remebr offhand if you can unplug from the sensor- but if so try that first. I don't find it all that useful- I've had it come on when I had loads of fuel left. The trick is to make sure you get both tanks full. A couple of ways to do that- one is to pull the breather hose off the bottom tank, fill until fuel comes out. Other is to fill it, then ride the bike around a bit, with loads of bouncing to get any air pockets out. I carry a litre of fuel along on lots of rides- even though I've only needed it on one very long ride. I've gotten 60 miles easily before- but since no way to see how much is left... Also, make sure your TPS has been set, and I do it evey 100 hours or so. If the bike starts to run a bit rich, that is the first sign. (At least on mine). I'm pretty picky on how it runs, I don't like the 'burble' off idle and whe it is right it runs nice and clean. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

My first thought was that the tanks were not connected, so I disconnected the breather tube on the top tank and then lifted the tank up, that caused gas to rise out of the lower breather tube, so I think it might help with air as well. So far, I can't really ride long enough to run out of gas ;-) I do have a regular dirt bike and would ride that for anything where I can go faster or longer distance. Right now I am targeting smaller sections of OHVs that have difficult parts. I do want to find better trails. (Not really into trials _competitions_, so only did that once). BTW, there are supposed to be 1 or 2 Explorer riders in NorCal...Have you heard of anyone named Alan Ande[sa]? I can't read the last 2 letters...The phone number I have from him is old. johnmc408 Posted April 21, 2016 Author Report Share Posted April 21, 2016 Oh, and on the TPS, I haven't set it. I do notice that I can't just crank the throttle in neutral and get it to always rev. I know there is something a bit off. So far in riding, I haven't had a problem though. It does need to fully warm up. I do need to get it out to lewisport at some point... I do around 1-2 hour rides on my TR280i and often like to know how much fuel I have left to ride back home at the right moment.
