What has worked for me is to make the rear fender and plastic airbox lid as one unit (don't forget to put a smaller screw into the back of the airbox) then just use 2 zip ties thru the front bolt holes. Fender will just pop off easily. Make sure to  carry at least 4 zip ties on you for spares.

I'm not very good at taking pictures. You need to take the air-box lid and remove the plastic from the bottom of the screw hole. (This allows the fender to sit flush on top of the rear air-box bolt) Then put two self tapping wood screws into the hole-from the back side. These will hold the air-box  lid firmly to the fender, making it a single unit. You should also put duct tape over the hole, or fill the top of the hole with a hot glue gun so no water can run into the air-box. The two zip ties allow the fender to pop off in a fall. My 2013 rear fender lasted three years and many tumbles.
