It has matching frame and engine numbers, and I have owned the bike since 1985. It is fitted with a chrome frame, and I was wondering if Bultaco ever produced bikes with chrome frames. I don't think the bike has ever been stripped before, and it is definitely a standard frame, just in chrome! Any information would be welcome. Usual reason for a chrome one would be where a Miller frame has been used, but that's obviously not the case with yours as it has matching numbers. iconic558 Posted November 3, 2016 Report Share Posted November 3, 2016 (edited) I've seen a Nickel plated Sherpa before, a long time ago at a trial in Cliffe Marshes In Kent....mid to late 70's. I remember the particular bike as my friend's father had it done as a favour at a platers down in Dover. Part of a job lot for Marconi's (or Elliotts Aviation as it was?).The guy wanted the frame chromed but the platers talked him out of it saying this could make the frame brittle and suggested Nickel as being better engineering solution. hmm....I can still smell the platers and the picture the sight of hundreds of ping pong balls floating on top of the tanks....I think we used to go to tarmac hill climb down that way, cars mainly but a few bikes too. ...I'm amazed I remember all that, but I'm shallow and always liked shiny bright things....this is one of my gixers's Edited November 3, 2016 by iconic558 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I wonder if it could be the same bike?? It's a small world you never know. It was a red bike...or was it blue no, it was 100% red....the bike was a brand new bike when it was plated. Bought, stripped, plated, reassembled then used at Cliffe first time out.
