Fantic Frame

Was almost ready to buy yet another bike, this time a Fantic 240!  But then a very observant Italian friend spotted the frame cut away under the motor.

Run away from this bike, or still worth the effort?  My thanks for your wisdom!

Personally I'd avoid it as you can find a nicer unmolested one easy enough.

Removing the bottom rails is normally done to fit an air cooled mono engine as the flywheel side is deeper. Funny why this still having it's original engine. A head steady and a heavy duty sump plate is essential to prevent flexing.

About $1,000 shipped.  Not cheap, at least for me.  Patience is a virtue I am working on...  :) And with all the shared wisdom around here, I am starting to get the feeling there are better bikes out there just waiting for me.  Plus, I still have my Can-Am 240! And I just thought all the cool kids were missing frame bottoms!

Very much depends on the price?

Unfortunately 240 frames aren't the strongest and if ridden hard can suffer from cracking around the head stock area combined with the steering geometry splaying resulting in slower steering and a longer wheel base.

A good used frame can be bought for around £150 so if the sellers price was right it could still be a good project for someone.

That Fantic's been online for a while along with the 93 Key Roo.

No paperwork, chopped tubes, offer less.

Then you could afford one of those newly discovered NOS frames.

Shame your not in Santa Maria California.
