Side Stand mods

Working on my first TY project, its got some lovely longer shocks on, so I need to think about extending the side stand.  

 

What have you guys done?  or just bin it and use a tree?

It's surprising how often trees come in exactly the length required☺  And how using the petrol tap allows you to just lay the bike on its side.

And then the bike runs out of fuel halfway through the section! Been there done that, more than once

Seldom use the stand,as it often sinks into the ground and the bike falls over,The venues I ride have plenty of trees so I use them

I lengthen the stand by welding in a piece of steel tubing

Yeah I know, trees work, lay it down etc etc, regardless I'd like to get the stand operational.  Welding a bit in is the obvious, but its going to hand way past the end of the swing arm, so anyone put a bend in?  Looking for photos please

Yes putting a bend in it takes the tip higher when it is stored. I have already posted photos showing what I did to mine (yes they have a bend) on these forums somewhere

Or.. Carry a brick around with you....    Only Joking..

Used to have the same problem with an old Villiers powered trials bike.   If I couldn't find some sloping ground I would find a flat stone or log to use as a prop, and always park out of the way at sections, so nobody else would pinch my stone.   Remember on the 3rd and 4th laps you might not have to park up, you might be lucky, and ride straight through.
