Hi all,

I wonder if anyone could help with info on a Bultaco 199a my brother and I have just acquired.

Engine number is JM19908511-A

We have done a bit of digging and think it's a Sherpa 350 T circa 1980

Any info would be really appreciated.

I'll try to attach a picture.

Cheers

Norm

Just found this from an old post from bult360 in 2014

"The letters before the nos on Bultacos correspond with the engine size . Pre 1973 or thereabouts they just had the one letter which was the M for motor , the frame had B for bastidor which is Spanish for frame . After 1973 or thereabouts the M or B was preceded by another letter P = 250CC R =238CC H =360/370 CC J =325/340 CC S = 200CC Z = 50CC (CHISPA) V = 125CC T = 175CC ETC ETC , There are others but I cant remember them"

So that's cleared that one

On the Sherpas JM is before the engine number and JB is before the frame number. Yes it should be a blue tank and sidecovers with a blue frame and mudguards. The engine and fork bottoms are satin black . They came out in late 1978. Most were made in 1979 and that`s when they were released in Australia. In 1980 the factory didn`t do much of anything then the M199Bs came out in 1981.

Thanks bullylover

Frame and engine numbers match so that's a good sign.

We thought blue but weren't sure.

Its not in bad nick really, a bit of restoration, its a cracking bike.

My brother rode it all day Saturday and loved it.

Cheers
