  1. Probly been asked before ! I have a small crack near the top of the tank, caused by a fall, the coating has come away from the tank itself, how do you repair them ? Thanks.
  2. Hi everyone, i was just wondering if I advance the ignition on my gas gas 125, will it give it a bit more bottom end? thanks Sam
  3. A mate of mine has just bought a 2008 rev 4, when he got it home he was concerened about some noise from the engine, he stripped it down to find a good bit of wear on the valve guides. He has contacted the importer & the valve guides are unavailable. Does anyone know if there are other valve guides which will fit of any other bike & are these engines naturaly noisey tapetty sounds etc. Thanks.
  4. Your spot on Billy T, I have put a new Wosner piston kit in this morning, nearly half the price of the GasGas S3 piston kit, cleaned the ex port up & removed the thinner of the two base gaskets. The bike is now running better than ever. I put Boyesen reeds in over a year ago & they made a worthwile difference. On the subject of race fuel, I once bought & ran some VP race fuel in a std YZ125 motocross bike, It made no difference to the performance, I mixed it with shell optimax. I found with 2 stroke mx bikes without engine work, different pipes, silencers, reeds & altering jetting would only alter the power one way or another top or bottom end, realy to suite the power delivery to the individual. I use to use Silkolene octane booster at 100ml to 5 litres of Shell Optimax & it was noticeable, the bike noticeably ran cleaner & crisper off the bottom. Unless an engine has had head & compresion mods to increase the power output I don't think the race fuel is worthwile other than to prevent detonation, a mate of mine years ago used to mix aviation gas (av gas ) with his petrol to stop detonation on his CR250 mx bike in the winter. Maybe simpler to go up a couple on the main jet or lift the needle ! Anyway thanks all for the advice & in depth debates ! verry good reading. Any advice on how not to fall of a Scorpa on rock sections would be gratefully received. Thanks, Nigel, Sams Dad.
  5. hi, how do you just fit one to your bike? Do you have to have a different CDI aswell? Thanks Sam
  6. Hi, thanks i will tell my dad when he gets home and see what he says. Thanks sam
  7. Hi everyone, thanks for all the replys. Really useful. My dad can set it all up for me its just that we didn't know what would be the most beneficial and easiest way of gaining more bottom end power. There are loads of ideas on the topic but which do you think is the best? My bike has 2 base gaskets on it and my dad thought of taking one off as BillyT said but we asked at our local biike shop and said that it had been set up in the factory for the squish band, so I don't know now. What should I do? Thanks Sam
  8. Hi, i would like some more power off the bottom. What would be the best to increase bottom without losing too much elsewhere? thanks Sam
  9. The top riders in the country have brand new 2010 bikes with all the gear on them. It would just be nice to have a bit more bottom end on my bike!
  10. Hi, I have a GasGas TXT Pro 125 and I am wanting more power. I am 15 so I have to stick to the 125 to ride in trials. We will be putting a new piston in it and I was wondering what we could do to get more power. thanks, Sam
  11. When I changed mine I got a scocket the size of the outside diameter of the bush, a larger socket on the other side then put the shock with the sockets eitherside in the vice, with a bit of wd, they came out nicely. To put the new in just start them off then put them in the vice to push them in fully. To make it realy easy put the new bushes in your freezer for a good hour, & lightly heat the area of the shock where the bearings go. Job done !
  12. I had thought the same about getting my rear shock rebuilt on my 06 sy 250, as the rebound was that bad it would sometimes, if I wasn't gripping the bike with my legs, it would lift my feet of the pegs on rocks, I was at first dragging the back brake to try & calm it down. I phoned Nigel Birket asking about a shock rebuild, he was very helpfull, he said the rear shock on the Scorpa was naturaly lively & as long as there had been no signs of oil leeks to try turning the rebound adjuster in a good way then gradualy out to where there was an improvement. I had previously tried turning it in a couple of turns, without a great deal of difference, so I turned it all the way fully in, a lot of turns ! & what a diference, I just turned it out after that to get it somewhere I thought would be better, somewhere like I wanted it, then when out on the bike adjusted it & at the same time the forks, what a difference, worlds better. I am more used to motocross bike suspension, I have had this Scorpa over a year now, great fun. With motocross bikes the adjustment screws are on clicks so when turning from a standard posistion it's easy to keep track of & being more sensative to a couple of turns on the adjusters, so with the Scorpa adjuster just being in & out, like a loose screw, I thought a couple of turns from where it was would make a difference, I never thought to turn it fully in then out (dummy). Nigel Birket is I think the man to ask about a shock rebuild on a Scorpa or advice, that would be the place I would go if it needs doing, sound & helpfull bloke.
  13. Andy, There is a custom made Scorpa spring on Ebay at the moment, scroll through the Scorpa listings, I think it has just been listed today. Failing that I have a shock & spring I don't know what year it's of, I bought it of Ebay, but it has hardly any damping, I got the bushes out as they were good, I will part with the spring, if your interested just message me. Nigel.
  14. I have had an 05 & now have an 06 great bikes for me, bullet proof & does every thing I am capable of, the bike is more capable than me !!
