  1. Some great replies chaps, thanks very much. So if I change my barrel back to the correct age related, I will need to change piston too? Or would this be good practice anyway?
  2. What bore should the barrel be, on a Sherpa 250 198a? The barrel and head on mine are from a much older bike and I’m looking at getting a replacement. Need to make sure I get the right thing. Thanks for any advice
  3. Excellent comments once again chaps. Cheers
  4. Hi all. Thinking about getting the frame powder coated. A couple of questions before I do. Firstly colour? Stick with the blue or go white? There is a frame lock stop missing, so do I chop the other one off or weld on the missing one? Footrests, do I weld on new brackets, for modern footrests, or will modern types fit on existing brackets? Any thoughts on this very welcome, cheers.
  5. Good tip, many thanks
  6. Update on spark problem. Bike was bought as a non-runner. Points cleaned, carb cleaned, fresh premix, couple of kicks and she fired up. Thanks all
  7. Thanks all, points checked and cleaned, 0.4 gap, opening fine. Big fat spark. Sometimes it's the simple solution.
  8. Cheers, I'll give all these a good check over. Difficult to see anything through those little windows on the flywheel lol. Thanks for the advice
  9. Hi all, it's probably been asked a million times, but I've got no spark. Is this just a simple fix, like points reset, or am I looking at reseting timing? Also is it easier to set points with the flywheel off, or am I creating more problems? Don't want to start ordering too many parts/tools I don't need. Big thanks for any help
  10. Sorry for such a late reply, I have been away. That is brilliant information. I think you have covered everything. I will get back to you if I need any more info. You are a gent sir. Thank you for your time
  11. Hi thats great. Good pictures, but havent got the spacer or the oil deflector. Nightmare! I know I am pushing it, but you couldnt give me some dimensions so I can machine some myself. Pretty please?
  12. That is exactly the info I needed thanks. If the photos are not too much trouble that would be great, just to get a look at that spacer so I can get one made perhaps. Sorry is it longer spring after the damper rod?
  13. Any help gratefully received. I have recently taken apart my forks on My KT250 to replace the seals and found no springs inside. sourced some new springs, but didnt realise they were so small and they are in two parts. Looked at an exploded diagram of the forks and it seems there are a lot of gubbins inside that I havent got either, spacers and the likes. Can anyone help with this because I am not sure how they line up inside or what else is needed. I have a workshop manual, but it doesnt help much really
  14. Thanks for all replies. Took the carb apart again after having the petrol tap on and the float bowl was dry this time. Fiddled about with it again and put it back together. Kicked it over and thought there is something not right about this kick start. Drained the oil took clutch cover off. Noticed that the return mechanism stop was wrong side of the holding pin that screws in from the underside. Corrected this (very fiddly) and refilled oil. Kicked it over and sprang into life first kick. Running very nice indeed. ( for the time being)
