  1. Theres one on gumtree, type ossa in your search think its £20
  2. I've split the crank cases and everything is good in there. Had my mate round as a fresh pair of eyes and he had another look at the cush drive. He inspected the gears that sit on the cush drive and found the facers where the 2 gears mesh together have high spots and of course they should be silky smooth?? Hopefully we're on to something.
  3. No there's no noise when drive resumes, and like i said in my brief explanation the cush drive is working perfectly.
  4. Hi all, having some issues with my 250 gripper in the gearbox department. The problem is a loud cracking noise from within the crankcases and temporary loss of drive for a split second. This only happens when the motor is under load (climbing a hill) there are no problems when the bike is on the flat. Originally thought it might be the cush drive but that is all working perfectly. Any advice gladly accepted thanks Higgo.
  5. Hi, I am going to paint the engine cases, cylinder head and barrel on my Ossa in a satin/matt black. The last time I did any engine painting I used PJ1 engine paint but trying to buy this paint now is nearly impossible. Can anybody recommend an alternative or is it still possible to buy PJ1 at a reasonable price?
  6. Thanks very much chaps for your input, i will relay all this to my mate.
  7. Hi all, i have a friend who is without internet access, and is currently building a Bantam, he now has a rolling chassis, and the next stage of the build will the motor, without having to take a second mortgauge out what would be the best mods he could do to the motor. ( 187 cc big bore ) And are there any web sites where i can print info off for him. Many thanks HIGGO.
  8. Hi Woody, excuse my ignorance the flywheel i am after is the one where the hole, for the timing pin locates with the stator at 5 o'clock. I will amend my wanted advert. Thanks for your help. And you Steve.
  9. Hi all, at the moment I am riding a 250 Mar in comps. Its a great bike, does everything it should but i think its lacking that something extra in the engine department. Its on its first oversize with new piston and rings, 26 mm Mikuni and thinner head gasket. The engine pulls from nothing, but just seems to lack that sharp response when power is needed. So my first question would be, is this a characteristic of the engine? Secondly I have a 250 gripper engine sat in the corner of my shed and was wondering would I get much benefit fitting this in my Mar chassis, and would it cause me much hassle? Cheers HIGGO.
  10. When i need to break the bead on the tyre, i always use my vice (assuming you have a vice) put your wheel in the vice place a small amount of packing to the rear of your rim, i always use wood so as not to damage the rim and do the same on the front but this time put the wood on the tyre, tighten the jaws so that they just skim under the rim and away you go. Its a peace of cake. use it on my roadbike to break the bead on 190 section tyres. Hope this helps. Cheers HIGGO.

    OSSA 250 MAR COMP

Hi everybody, i am new to this site, but wondered if any body can help with my dilema, i have a ossa 250 mar which is running a standard bore, did a compression test this evening and got a reading of 77psi. Squirted some oil down the bore and then got a reading of 88 psi. Can anybody tell me what psi would indicate a healthy engine. Thanks HIGGO.
