  1. Mine was a barbed wire fence Pirate! LOL... Thanks bilk but i really want to use my local bearing shop and about half the price as i found out when replacing the main bearings. Andy.
  2. Hi, could any one tell me the part numbers of the different bearings in the gearbox of my 98 techno 250. Andy
  3. Hi Fatty, Waterside is a really good club very friendly and helpful, I only started last November and their beginners routes are challenging but not to bad that you give up all hope!!! I travel 50 miles to attend their trials as my local clubs really don't cater for beginners which I don't mind as it's only once a month with with plenty of recovery time, I'm over 40 too!! I will miss the next couple of trials as I'm on holiday which is a shame as I'm the only techno rider presently and it would be good to see another to compare with mine. Since having mine I've become an expert at stripping my bike to repair various things that have broken or worn out and have just finished totally rebuilding the engine with new seals and bearings, I get most of my parts from Trials and tribulations or Haven trialsport. Iv,e cleaned my exhaust system out completely the best way is to break it down into the three parts and use a heat gun if you have access to one and leave it blowing into each section for around 20 minutes or until you see the flames coming out of the end where the carbon is burnig off sounds dodgy but works a treat. If you could give me some pictures of the chain tensioners mounting that would be great as mine came loose last week whilst riding at the disused railway line where I practise, it looks like a boss has come out of the arm to me. Cheers Andy.
  4. That is really tidy, what year is it? I have a 98 techno that I have had for about two years and have had to just about rebuild the thing as various things have worn out! The latest thing to break is the chain tensioner which has come adrift from the swinging arm, can you see on yours if the boss that it screws to is welded to the swinging arm as I can't find any pictures that show it and can't tell from what I've got left. Andy.

    Chain Guide

After looking at it again I think that there is a boss that was attached to the swinging arm that has come adrift, it doesn't look like it was welded very well and now it is still connected to the tensioner with the countersunk screw through the spring retainer. Does anyone have a photo of the tensioner off of their bike so I can see how it should be, I've tried the web but nothing. Andy.

    Chain Guide

Ah! There is a countersunk screw through the centre of the spring coil part but it doesn't protrude out of the rear into the swinging arm, where does it bolt on to?

    Chain Guide

I was riding along today along an old railway near where I live and could hear a clicking noise coming from the chain guide area, when I stopped the part that goes into the swinging arm had come out towards the tyre. When I got home I took the back wheel out and had a look, does the chain guide just push into the swinging arm as it does not have anything to hold it in?
  8. Steve, ive just rebuilt my 98 techno engine and got all my new parts from either Haven trial sport or Trials and Tribulations both very knowledgeable and helpful. Andy.
  9. I rode last sunday and the bike is so much better, no clouds of smoke and its reving properly in the upper rev range. I treated myself this week after the satisfaction of completing all the engine work myself and saving on all the labour that the shops charge by buying a set of Boyeson reeds and a jetting kit from "Trials and Tribulations", hopefully this will be the icing on the cake to my engine tuning extravaganza!!! Andy.

    Techno Forks

Does anyone know if the washer that sits under the fork seal sits with the dished shape facing up or down? Andy.
  11. Cheers Dan, I'm riding in my club championship tomorrow so will see how it goes, I have put the needle back to the centre groove as a start to see how it runs but I will check the plug throughout the day to see how the mixture is, i'll let you know. Andy.
  12. Good news it lives! Started it tonight and it runs so much quieter and the revs drop straight away when letting the throttle off, it was getting a bit late so I couldn't do a full test but things are looking up. I will have a good look at it on Friday as I have a day off.
  13. What torque setting should the clutch spring bolts be on my techno?
  14. Thanks, I hope it solves all my problems too! One question though when putting the gears and the slotted barrel that the selector forks run in is there a specific position for the forks to be in or does it not matter? I have slipped the gear lever on to the shaft and it will select gears but not that easily as I still need to put the clutch outer casing on and can't borrow the impact driver until the morning.
  15. Well I'm glad I deceided to strip the engine as I found a pair of very worn main bearings with one of thems ball retainer broken up allowing one of the balls to move around the race.
