  1. Thanks everyone, really helpful, I'm normally in a rush to get a repair done, to get ready for the weekend but at the moment time is on my side.
  2. I have looked on eBay and there is one on there at the moment, its £85 but its off a 2006 txt so I didn't know if it would fit or not, also I think it needs a bearing, I expected to see more on there to be honest.
  3. Hi, my rear shock started to make a noise, the other day, when I was out riding, the bike is a 2013 txt pro, I had a look at it and found it had a crack at the bottom of the shock, where it connects to the bike, I can't seem to find anywhere online that does spare parts for them or even an online shop that sells them, any help would be great.
  4. I completely agree with the helmet rule and maybe it should be compulsory to wear boots and gloves, I simply wouldn't ride without any of them and there has been some really bad accidents to legs and hands because the rider didn't wear boots or gloves but that's on them at the end of the day. The biggest danger I have seen is in the actual sections themselves, simple things like part of the section running really close to barbed wire, end gates just a few feet from the next sections start gate, sending riders over fallen trees with broken branches sticking out of them, all things that can be easily avoided. I agree with, there should be a first aider at every trial, our club offered free places to any of our members who wanted to take a first aid course, I jumped at the chance, having seen some quite bad accidents, not just on Sundays but in the week when there is only a few of us their. Most of the trial meetings or practice grounds are not that easy to get to so having a first aider there until an ambulance arrives can make a big difference.
  5. Some time back, over two years ago, I had a 1999 Sherco and had the same problem, it just started doing it, id had the bike for around six months and the plug was fine but then it started to bog down and the plug would look the same as yours after just a few hours, the only thing I had recently done to the bike was change the oil but I used a different kind oil than I normally used, I changed the oil back to the oil I normally used and it solved the problem. I don't know what was going on with the other oil, I'm certainly no mechanic but it sorted my problem out and the bike ran fine after the oil change.
  6. The first thing I did was to go to YouTube and I did what the Jim Snell video said but no chance, iv had it socking in wd over night but still no joy, as far as being an expert, iv had the bike for almost two years and haven't had any problems with the kick start, clutch or cover in fact except for the normal wear and tear its never let me down, thanks for the replies everyone, iv gone as far as my limited skill will allow me, luckily a mechanic friend has offered to help me out, I think that would be the best way forward.
  7. i have been trying to get my kickstart off today but it will not budge, any suggestions would be very appreciated, the bike is 2013, thanks.
  8. Iv got a very small leek, it's coming from the clutch cover so I thought the first thing to try is the gasket, that's coming tomorrow so I decided to get my bike ready, I have tried to get the kick start off but it will not budge, is there any tips you could suggest, my bike is 2013, thanks.
  9. I know it's a bit of a long shot but a friends bike was over heating, he took the water pump cover off and the impeller was in bits, does anyone know if there will be a spares van at the Earl Shilton trial tomorrow.
  10. You need to find a small back street one man band tyre fitter, every town has one, the one i go to charges a fiver but i always give him ten, i went round most of the bigger companies first and they didn't want to know.
  11. i agree, iv just bought an Airoh and thought id made a mistake on the size, it seemed tight but after an hour i realised that it was just snug and it was my old helmet that was a loose fit, i can wear it all day and it doesn't feel like iv got it on, the vision is much better as well.
  12. I must be lucky, living in the midlands, I ride every weekend, knee deep in mud some of the times but I definitely learn more in the winter than I do in the summer.
  13. Welcome back Lee, you will probably find yourself traveling a lot more and further than you did 10 years ago, my club and practice ground is Earl Shilton which is an hour away from where I live. Manchester 17 and Macclesfield are both great clubs and both organise really good meetings, they both run an easy trial, which are great fun. You can join macclesfield for free online and they will send you the number you will need to have, to get your ACU licence, if you haven't already got it, also the best way to meet new friends is to go to a trial, you will soon get to know where people are practicing and when, even if you don't feel confident enough to enter the trial just go along and get chatting to the other riders.
  14. It's natural to be nervous, i don't calm down until iv done the first section but really there is nothing to be nervous about, i always get their at least an hour early and some times have a quick look at some of the sections but you will be walking them again when the trial starts so not to important, If you can, it would be better for you if you can go around with another rider but if your on your own and your not sure how to ride a section, just ask the other riders who are ridding the same route or ask the observer, it's a competitive sport but i don't know of another sport that your competitors are more than willing to help you out and give you sound advice, most important, don't forget why you are there, to enjoy your yourself, maybe if you let us know what trial you are doing, someone on here will be doing the same trial and will show you the ropes, or at least come and say hi, good luck for Sunday, have a great day.
  15. Iv not really had a problem with technique but slowly it would take more and more kicks to get my 250 pro to start, i changed the plug and made sure the gap was right and it was an instant cure, sometimes the spark can look quite good but it's not as strong as it should be, first kick most of the time, no more than two kicks every time and thats just standing with one foot on the ground, not leaning the bike on a tree or a wall.
