  1. I run both my Ossa's on Shell semi-synth at 55:1.
  2. I've got Gaerne Balance. Really like them. They stayed waterproof for about 18 months but now let water in a bit. Don't know if there are any truly waterproof boots. Can't comment on Alpinestars.
  3. Elf 740 for me too. Expensive though.
  4. Thanks for the tips everyone. Took the swinging arm off this morning and used a 14mm socket and a 22mm one with a piece of 8mm stud to remove the bearings under the swing arm itself. They were well soaked in Welsh mud!! `job done now.
  5. In the process of replacing worn needle rollers on my 06' 4RT's suspension. Done the dog bone - relatively straightforward in the vice, a little heat and a couple of sockets either end of an 8mm threaded stud to push the old ones out. The next one is the one under the swing arm. It looks tricky to remove these in situ but I've no idea how easy or difficult it is to remove the swinging arm so I can work on them on the bench? Anyone care to share their experience please. Thanks, Ian
  6. Sunday's trial turned out to be many stream based sections again. Boots were wet inside afterwards but my feet were cosy and dry! Sealskinz did the job!!

Just to add, I met up with Steve Sell at Telford on Friday eve to drop off my Gripper 350 engine which has failed mains. Good guy, knows his stuff, I've owned this bike since it was a year old ( ex Pete Salt works) so after 33 years I want it done correctly! Want it back for Aqueduct's Foel 2-day later in the year. Thanks to others who have given me email advice too ( Steve Bisby etc)
  8. Thanks Guys. Bought some Sealskinz which arrived today. Fit tightly with the insole removed. Expect they'll give a bit with use. Sod's law my next event is in a quarry with little deep water but I'll give them a go.
  9. Hi All, my Gaerne Balance "waterproof" boots are now letting in water. They are about 18mths old and I've treated them with Gaerne polish after every event but I think the issue is the folding membrane possibly at its base where the fold tucks are really tight. Anyone know if this membrane can be repaired or replaced? Ian E 06 Montesa 4RT 81 Ossa Gripper 350
  10. Would appreciate Steve Bisby dropping me a mail - iemery at sky dot com - issues with my Gripper I could do with advice on, thanks, Ian Rode against you many years ago in a Falcon trail, me on my 350, on your 250 , you beat me…...
