  1. Hey Cope, How many clicks of adjustment was there in the shock. Test it for us. See what the adjuster does for it. Does it change just rebound or compression too. I just looked at a 07 , but thought a long thin blade screwdriver would reach the adjuster. I was thinking about putting a 07 shock on my 05. If the adjuster don't do much then the cheaper 06 might be the answer. Already running a 06 delta link.
  2. Hi I have a Sherco 4t and a Sherco 2t. I do not like to compete on the 4t. Did last year. Much prefer the 2-smoke. If I could sell it I would. I'm not really trying too hard. But will buy another 2T when I get rid of it. In my part of the world, stop, hop, blitz, doesn't work too well for the 4T. I alternate which one to play on. Depends who I'm riding with. If I'm riding flowing sections in the no-stop style then it works great.A long pull is what it does best, but if i need to clear gaps or jump something the 4t doesn't like to hop over things it likes to pull thru things. Can be an advantage or handicap. The way I ride for fun it's a handicap so i'm back to the 2t. I actually think it takes much better and more clutch work to ride the 4T to the same level as the 2T because of the non instant power. So your poping the clutch alot and holding it in longer to let the rev's drop before the next release. Milt
  3. Novice nats, Clubman nats, Expert nats, Pro nats Did I forget anybody? Sounds like a local event with a name change will work. Call it a national and they will come. "I dont know what you guys thought of the nationals" FUN " And of that NICHE community, only the top 5-10% of that small group, barely are even qualified to ride the loop, let alone compete? " If you can't ride a loop or ride for 7 hours. No you should not be there. Have you ever been? guessing ? "FWIW, with some long discussion (not on a message board anywhere) what this has caused IMHO, is that to then to modify this situation of way to friggin tough sections is, riders are smart, they move down in classes (some refer to this as sand baggin although I wont and dont). " People should ride at There own level that they like to ride and have fun doing it. 'Ok, but! At this level, I am and would be a lot more willing to travel the country to compete against like level riders on like sections. My gripe is that, I dont need to drive 1000+ miles to FIVE out of 12 of the 18 sections each loop, that they think I am going to skinny up the side of that cliff (or some risky object), and drop 4ft into a pile of rocks, Hell I can drive 2 miles and NOT do that right here where I live! That stuff is for the expert & masters to do (and pro's of course). " You should not be there then. Problem solved. Get better, ride tuff lines at the local events and if your willing. go and see the Nationals first hand. You might come back saying that was fun.

    Carb Question?

Hi Sam, The needle will make a big difference to the 1/4 to 3/4 area of the throttle. I run a small washer to get a 1/2 clip position 3-1/2 Your bike did sound pretty bad there a couple of times I heard it. Almost electrical miss fire. Maybe???? Exhaust I had to clean out the exhaust on my bike as it would detonate low end yet run rich when reving up. Leaning out the top ( main) helped. It was not the cure or problem. But the cure was to run the hell out of it in 4th till it fogged up the whole area. After several foggings it ran great again.
  5. Great write up Alan. Sure was a good weekend for trials, and the family. Always a pleasure to see you and your family. It was funny when Hannah asked If I had seen you. Then you come around with a crash story. She kept going like you weren't needed anymore. (confidence) ( no auto-start needed) Great to see Dean so excited about his good loops and riding well. Hope your coming to Stoney in 2 weeks Pictures on the web site. Milt
  6. In a earlier post I said LINE selection is what makes them better. I'm sure there are other things too. BUT I think ENGINE SIZE makes NO difference 125 vs. 250-300 I DIDN'T want to have someone start a 125 battle AGAIN IF your taught to ride EXACT lines.( 2" to the right, rear to the left 4" Now Weight back and pop. Front wheel left 2" OK set) Your probally going to get pretty good. Don't matter what SIZE bike. If you can put the bike in the right spot 95% of the time it makes it look easy. Line up wrong, start off on the side of the tire instead of staight up then add mud and easy dry rocks turn to hell when only half the tire is on the ground. There Youth and Junior Minders did the same things that Doogie's,Caby's, Raga's did. Have the rider place the bike EXACTLY where they wanted it. The US guys just started the next part of the section where they ended up. That looks close enough ? Lets go around that rock?
  7. The U.S. got beat good. In the section I was checking Line selection was important thru a tight squeeze of about 4-5 feet. The US riders don't know how to pick lines. ( a good one) US Ex. and PRO's would ride a totally different line and have 3 points before the next checker would take over. Then 5 it on the exit. Bike size made no difference. The WR guys and gal had a good line and everyone of them basically took the same line and would clean it. The US riders basically took a different line but like sheep following each other on the same line as all the US guys and 5 it one after another. We the checkers were even telling them the lines the WR guys were doing but too no avail. Cody Webb won because he rode with the WR guys and rode there lines. Congrats Cody

    4t Start Kit

Hey Dixie, Lets hear more of what you think is involved. Hot start button? magneto ? Manual compression release? What did you hear????? Free to current owners or $ ??? Thanks Milt
  9. Hey Travis, I ride at BOB B's place in KY by the Cincy airport. But I don't get over to Big rock Think about it, but never get there. Steve B and his brother Dave went couple weeks ago. Some of the other guys (Butch) around here ride at RedBird and S-tree http://www.kentuckyriders.com/ridingplaces.html Milt
  10. Hi Travis, Glad you like the new bike. Looks good. That Log,stump looks like fun. The zaps at ENON will be Twice the size now. Advantage to you? BUT we're tightening the turns before the zaps. oops Turn, hop, hop, hop,zap JONATHAN get your old one again? If he did no excuses for DENNIS to not ride events. Milt
  11. Hey jetting sure can be different. Personal tastes, area, etc. In the Area I'm at ( sherco land) ( 500ft. elevation)( humid) 03' I ran 115 main 38 pilot If real muddy raised the needle for a fat midrange. 04' 116m 38p My 05' runs 118m 38p Runs too lean when it gets hot with a 36 Plug checks show I could go lower. I want mine to rev clean without having to wring it out before going into a section. A buddie just changed his from a 36 to 38 last weekend. Couldn't keep it from pinging. Kept saying that is what Sherco usa says to use. We do stop and hop don't know if that makes a difference. But sudden burst of throttle would cause pinging with anything less than 36p Milt
  12. That was a FUN day trying to shadow Ryan for two loops. He made the 4t look real good. I was trying to pick up ideas on how to ride the 4t differently than the 2t. Conclusion: Ride it the same. ( at least for me) Lots of clutch. Steady throttle Biggest difference is how much longer the power lasts. Ride a 2t( 05) that you think revs good then the 4t and you feel the power falling flat quickly on the 2-smoke. 4t-times the FUN Milt
  13. Ishy, you say if you use another plug it will run hotter. I found a Autolite #3923 that's supposed to crossover. Haven't tryed it yet, but now I don't know if I should. What number was the bosch? First trial this weekend on the 4t. I hear ppl talk about the airbox filling up. But does anybody have the vent lines that join behind the cylinder pour drips of fuel out. I stop the bike and smell gas. Look down and fuel is coming out the vents. Steep climbs in and out a ravine. Or zaps etc. with sudden up-down movement. Does lowering the float height stop the drips? Milt
  14. There are different powerbands for the mx'ers. Mx'ers rev quick, even the 4-strokes. Spin like crazy everywhere. My sherco 290 maybe has 16hp at 6000 rpm. Smooth slow power My 2 stroke 250 bursts at low rpms( 4000) then revs smoothly till about 9000. 45hp My 4 stroke 250 revs like crazy to make power. 8000-13,000 32hp My 4stroke 500 is smooth power from low down and the more you want the more you rev, till about 9000. 48hp
  15. I wear the tomcat. Do not move and keep my knees warm. ( old knees) No shin protection though. http://www.vsportgroup.com/gearmoto/pads_tomcat.html
