  1. Thanks! I contacted Jim Snell and he said most likely the nylon gear on the back side of the pump was stripped...:/ How available are these parts and from whereabouts can I get them in the USA? gasgasparts.com the best place? Are they going to cost me an arm and a leg...? Thanks for all the feedback on this site! Very helpful.
  2. I have a 1996 GAS GAS JTR 250. I hope this is not a stupid question. I think it is overheating too much because the fan is on almost all the time when it get's warmed up and it spits coolant a little too much for my liking I drained the remaining coolant from the system today and cracked off the cover of the water pump. The water pump propeller spins freely. When I kick the bike over the pump does not move. The bike has 130+ psi compression. My question is this: when does the water pump supposed to spin? With the clutch engaged (ie the motor under load and riding around)? Or simply when the bike is kicked over? Could there be a gear broken? Thanks for your help!
  3. So I torn part my carb, scrubbed everything out again. She fired up nicely! She now runs with the choke off (yay!), but still not a crisp as I imagine. Any ideas on how to make er run more responsively? Where can I find replacement reeds for this bike? I'm sure they are worn. Any other ideas? I am running the following jets; I think this is what they are called.... (#66 from the diagram above) = 115 (#3 from the diagram above) = 270k (#8 from the diagram above) = 60 (#9 from the diagram above) = 200 (#7 from the diagram above) = 38 (How does one insert a picture?) Thank you. Thanks!
  4. Thank you, that is what I saw as well. I'm thinking I do have an air leak somewhere...What is the best way to test? I started the bike and sprayed choke cleaner around as best I could to no avail... With the choke up/ON: the idle screw is kind of responsive. The mixture screw is responsive, but it takes a rotation to see the difference. I might order a couple parts for it, but since they mostly ship from the UK, it'll be a while. THanks, and anything else would help. Regards....
  5. Hi All, So I finally got my new-to-me JTR250 up and running. I'm new to trials bikes, but not to motorcycles. It starts great on the choke (the little black lever pointed up vertically), and will idle all day like that. The thing is as soon as I put the choke lever down, the engine bogs and eventually dies out. ;( I'm imagining the carb is running too rich because i think the choke on this carb restricts the air flow during start-up, and as soon as I remove the choke, the amount of air in the mixture is too great and the fuel is not compensating.... I started with the air-mixture screw at 3.5 turns out and the idle is a few turns out too. I just cleaned the jets and carb. I didn't pay attention to the needle postion...:/ Thoughts? Who sells a rebuild kit for this carb...? I am in the states. Thanks!!
  6. Thanks, though this doesn't really help much...:/
  7. Thanks for the reply. Thanks; yup runs with the switch disconnected....just doesn't have the kill switch option then. I have another new and similar switch and am trying to hook up the lights, horn and kill switch again....so yeah. That's where I'm at.
  8. Thanks for the reply! I am in Central California, USA. The attached 'KOKUSAN SYSTEM Wiring diagram' is helpful, though the RED WIRE to 'LIGHTS< HORN AND OTHER ACCESORIES' is not that helpful :/ I have a seven wire connector that goes to the light/horn/kill switch (multiswitch)...I had to replace the oringal switch (which I have with some cut wires) with a very similar one. Can you guys tell me what color wires go to what..? RED = Positive, BLACK = ground....what's YELLOW? What's GREEN/YELLOW? What's GRAY? What's WHITE? What's BROWN?...etc. Not to complicate the issue, but I'm not able to fire it up in it's current state, SO I'd like to have the switch wired up with confidence before I button her up again. Thanks in advance
  9. Hello, I recently purchased a 1996 JTR 250 Gas Gas. Very sweet, but the wiring for the main kill/light/horn switch is cut. I have a new switch, but would desperately need to look at a wiring diagram. ANy one have a basic one I could have? Even a 'green=ground' type would be of huge help here. Also, where is the best place to buy parts for this beast? I have looked just about everywhere and they are scarse to say the least. Many thanks, Rohls
