  1. Hi do you have a pic of a bar end such as this? Ta.
  2. The Dzus looks a possibility, although presumably I would need to drill 2 holes in the frame? Would this be difficult to drill into? Any idea where best to get one of the DZus like the one pictured for not too much money? Ta.
  3. Thanks for info so far, can anyone else confirm that the hole has been enlarged? I don't have welding kit unfortunately so keen to try otehr ideas before I take the bike to a welder. What type of Dzus did you have in mind petert?
  4. Does anyone know where I can get a captive nut or whatever it's called for the tank bolt for a Y2k TXT 280? When I bought the bike recently it came with what looks to be a home made captive nut with a bent washer and nut but this has now failed. I did order one from a Gas Gas uk online shop but the part they sent me doesn't fit in the rather large hole in the frame. Here is the hole in the frame where the nut is meant to be mounted: Here is a photo of the part that was sent to me that doesn't fit: I guess the 2 "hooks" are meant to sit on the edges of the frame hole but they are too small. Have they sent me the wrong part for this year of bike? Or has someone enlarged the frame hole at some point? Cheers.
  5. THere isn't much room in there so very easy to catch a wire or plug on the fan when fitting the tank! I also had this issue.
  6. Hi thanks for this info. Mine is a year 2000 TXT 280 (before the pro model) and I searched ebay for honda 250 fans from older bikes and found one for a fiver. The only difference was the 3 mounting holes, I had to used a grinder to cut away at the mounts as they werent as the above photo with the end gaps. But fitted now and works spot on!
  7. Just an update: the chemical metal seems to be working well, its just the generic stuff that comes in a roll that you knead together. If it fails at some point I will get it welded but this seems fine for now, perhaps a permanent repair!
  8. Well I changed the o-ring and after reassembly it still leaks. On closer examination it turns out the weld around the tap on the tank has failed, a tiny 2 mm long crack. I have chemical metalled all around the weld to completely cover it, waiting for it to go off now to see if it still leaks. Have had great success in the past with chemical metal one to repair a steel tank that was leaking from rust and once to repair an engine casing that had a hole from a rock.
  9. I've now opened the tap up and there are 2 washers in there, one is rubber and one is a hard grey "plastic". Would it be ok to replace these with 2 generic rubber o-rings? I was thinking of getting one of these kits and looking for similair dimensions: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/225pc-Rubber-O-Ring-seals-Tap-Washers-Gasket-Assortment-plumbing-petrol-diesel-/141211297303?pt=UK_DIY_Material_Nails_Fixing_MJ&hash=item20e0d96617 Cheers.
  10. Hi my fuel is leaking from where the tap enters the tank, I'm guessing the fuel tap seals have perished, does anyone know where these seals can be bought or if I may need a new tap instead? Thanks
  11. Does anyone know how the sizes come up on the Gaerne boots? with Sidis (at least with the road boots) you have to buy a size up as they are stupidly small. But not sure with these if they come up small or large compared to other boots?
  12. Thanks for that, just checked the bag of the bottle and it meets all the ones you listed plus more, so looks like it should be fine, It's only about £8 for 2 litres so was a bit suspicious but looks like it will be more than adequate.
  13. Hi, found this oil in my local supermarket (in France) and was wondering if it meets the recommended specifications for my bike - Year 2000 Gas Gas Txt 280 (Non Pro) Haven't found a manual for my bike yet so I have no idea if this oil is suitable or if I need a specific brand of oil? It is a fully synthetic 2 stroke Motorcycle oil but is not from a main brand such as Castrol so don't wanna use it unless it is good enough quality. I believe my bike is not as highly strung as the TXT pro model? but not sure... Any other oil recommendations appreciated if its no good. Thanks.
  14. Can anyone recommend a manual from a similar bike as I cant find a specific one from the links above? thanks.
  15. Hi there, do you know where I can get a manual for this bike or for a very similar bike? I have tried the links above but still no joy! It is a TXT year 2000 280 as you spotted, thanks.
