  1. It sounds like your pads are contaminated. If you've already tried sanding them down and had no success then you will probably have to just get some new pads. One more thing you could try is to give the pads another sand down and also give the disc a blast with with a blow torch to burn off any oil / dirt on them.
  2. Just wanted to see if anyone is using Alipinestars Tech 3, 7 or 10 for trials use? they look light weight and flexible so how different are they compared to the Alpinestars No Stop boots? they sure as hell look a lot cooler! ;-)

    Carb Leaking Fuel

Ah okay well that would explain why the tubes were so short. When it p****d out fuel the first time i extended the hoses down below the bike so it didn't get covered in fuel. But if they're atmospheric tubes and not overflow then they shouldn't have fuel coming out of them. Extending the hoses below the float chamber could actually be syphoning out the fuel! According to this picture and, by the sounds of it, Billy's set up, they have set the brass tangs to run diagonally upwards by bending the tab down towards the needle valve whereas mine are parallel to the plate below that you can just about see... Will have a play around with it today and see what i can do. Thanks to everyone for all the support so far! :-D

    Carb Leaking Fuel

Thanks for all your quick and helpful responses! Im almost certain it has nothing to do with the needle valve or seat as the rate the fuel comes out at its like the valve is fully open. Also i have tried reattaching the carb to the fuel line with the float chamber removed and turning on the fuel tap to check the valve for leaks but nothing gets through. Unless the needle valve gets seized open enough to resist the floats from returning then that could be a possibility... however it showed no such sign of this when i was checking its movement. Floats are definitely installed correctly as they have an obvious chamfer on the top side. I will run through that carb set up tomorrow. Thanks bilks! The Lampkins mod method seems pretty extreme but its an option.... Is this a manufacturing problem then?

    Carb Leaking Fuel

Hi guys, I've got a '97 Techno 250 with what i think is a Mikuni VM26 carb. Ive only bought the bike a couple of months ago and I thought it would be wise to give the carb a good clean out with the compressor so i know where i'm up to with maintenance. Ever since i've done that, every now and then it will p*** out fuel until i give it a persuasive tap with a nearby rock. The fuel is coming from the float chamber overflow pipe and its not trickling out, it's coming out as if the valve is fully open. (Which would suggest sunken floats rather than a dirty needle valve) I've taken the carb apart again for a another clean, I checked the needle valve just to be sure (was immaculate), I took the floats out and submersed them in fuel to check for bubbles but they both seemed fine and checked for any resistance on the lever mechanism. The only thing i did notice was on both floats there was a flat spot on the pin that is in contact with the lever so i twisted them round 180 with a pair of pliers. Reassembled every thing and its still doing it! Wanted to check if this was a common fault before i start replacing parts of the carb Cheers! Lyle

    Electrical - Dip?

Well here's a link to the User Manual http://www.carlsalter.com/pdfs/Beta__BETA%20Techno%20250%20-%201999%20owners%20manual.pdf The wiring diagram is on page 12. Been fiddling about with the wiring today and figured out the the DIP is the Handlebar controls that operate the lights, horn and kill switch. I have cut it off now and am just waiting on a simple kill switch to fit in its place.

    Electrical - Dip?

Hello, The loom on my '97 Techno is worse for wear so im trying to strip what i dont need (Lights, Horn...) On the electrical diagram there's a box called the DIP with 9 wires coming out. Does anyone know what it does? Is this to do with lights? Can I dispose of it? Thanks
  8. Hello, Does anyone have a decent wiring / electrical diagram for a Beta Techno? The loom on my '97 is a bit worse for wear and am trying to strip it down to the bare minimum. I dont need any lights or horn ect but i do need the cooling fan. The only owners manual I can find online is quite blurry making the small text unreadable. Many thanks!
