  1. Forgot... Use regular 10w-40 in the gearbox and engine. Same as i use in my crf..
  2. Clutch: switched the two outer discs for the upgraded ones that came after -06 i belive. Crf plates and removed two springs. Great feel but a little slippage in the higher gears.. But i am a first and second guy 99% of the time.. Brakes: nothing. ..
  3. Done all the regular work, fork oil, engine oil, cluch plates, set sag, air pressure lubricated and maintaned other things.. Now i wonder if anybody rebuilt the shock for a 4rt -05, or if there is a writeup anywere for the reubild?? Searched bit could not find...
  4. Could also be a fuel related problem... (to put fuel on the discussion. :-) )
  5. Do not think it is the oil. I belive it is the coil. Heard that it is lot more juice in the 4rt coil compared to for example a crf250r that is nearly the same engine...
  6. Yes. Got a hour counter that has a built in revcounter. Got it from a local shop here in sweden. But you should be able to find one on e-bay for sure!
  7. My 4rt -05 is a first kick starter 90% of the time, other times i have to kick it twice.. never any more. Recently the bike have stalled in sections, figured that it was the low (1100rpm) idle or my inabillity to ride the bike that made it stall.. Set the idle to approx 1300rpm and problem solved... This weekend i finished a section, let the bike sit for 10min, and when we were moving to the next section it started first kick as usual, but halfway i heard a backfire, had a look over my sholder to see whos bike it was but couldent figure out where it had come from, approached a small hill and suddendly the bike lost power and wouldent rev, stopped and the idle was approx 900rpm and it shot black smoke from the exhaust... Got the tip to change plug, rode to closest bike workshop, borrowed tools and got a plug, replaced it and was back for the next section. (got a 5 for the other one i missed.) Got a 5 in the next section aswell, partly due to i showed up to the section literalty the second it was my turn(went the wrong way around a tree due to the section was ridden backwards and the arrows were in the other side of the tree). Rest of the day i struggeld with a crisp off idle responce and a idle of 1800rpm. (the way it should run.. ) After the competition i set the bike back to 1100rpm and the bike climbes fairly steep hills just ideling and no problem stalling! So my sympthoms were, Bike stalled when it shouldent, Did not respond off idle as it should and in the end black smoke! This has been a progressive thing and before the black smoke i felt that the bike was ok even when it wasent.. Mainly since it always started on the first kick Lesson learned!!

Got the new rear fender mounted, fits well, but i guess i will trim the front lip to avoid rubbing against the tank.. But it is an no brainer, just needed a small enlargement of the rear mounting points, otherwise a straight fit... And for the price... 220SEK = 17GBP at the local shop... next time i´m there ill get one more to keep on the shelf...
  9. Adapting is an individual thing. For me coming of a beta rev3 250 it was quite easy. Did the switch to a mont since the riding style seemed to be more of a smooth and fluent style. I started by watching the 4 stroke guys and mimicking their riding style. Just a small thing like raising the front wheel onto an obstacle impressed me with the amount of control they seem to have. For me remembering not to overwork the bike and really trust the grip helped a lot. It feels like I am using far less throttle on the mont, much smother roll on roll off throttle and I can place the front wheel more precise height wise. For uphill in both muddy and dry I simply lean back and let the bike do the job, big difference when I realized what the bike can do, I get much less spin than on the 2 stroke if I just can get my head to remember to be smooth on the throttle. Use my body more loading the front and rear wheel but with the characteristic of the engine, I can do things I would not be able to on the beta. But I guess it doesn't matter if I'm on a 2 stroke or a 4 stroke, if you whack the throttle in a muddy uphill you will get less traction with both, but with a 4 stroke I believe I can control it better. But that's just me...

Your idle speed is higher than mine -05.

Have you tried just a little bit of throttle when starting hot?

The local shop sells the 2015 mudguard for 1/3 of the cost for a 2005.And if i am riding a trial s bike or a dirtbike i expect to get dirty... other wise it wouldent be fun!!

Hi. Great pics! I will order a new fender like yours. I bet no one will notice that gap without knowing that it is there! Many thanks again!!
