  1. Timely topic. I have a 2012 Explorer and want to run 80:1 as I have another trials bike...sounds like the answer is: "no problems" (only run 100:1 so far)
  2. Any update from anyone's testing? If you have a problem loading drivers or software, let me know...maybe I can help...
  3. Found a full datasheet on the cable: http://www.ftdichip.com/Support/Documents/DataSheets/Cables/DS_USB_RS232_CABLES.pdf According to the web, some cables come with a unique ID burned into it them. Not sure you can burn this ID yourself if you purchase a new cable though. And then not sure if they use that ID as part of a larger software system... If the software is free and isn't tied to a specific cable (or we can re-use an ID), I am hopeful somebody will have success. --- When I took my explorer to the mountains, I had to manually adjust the throttle position bolt/nut...to keep the bike from stalling. I think the preferred way is to use the software...so would be great to have that option!
  4. Thanks Jim, that makes sense. Because the Sherco uses 37 foot pounds on that nut and the prior owner of the Pamp had a blob of "glue" on many nuts, I didn't get a great feel for how tight it was screwed on (it is a BIG nut after all ;-) I am sure the axle won't come out as it is in there pretty tight, but I might put some blue locktite or some glue to make sure the nut doesn't fall off. BTW I have 1 pinch bolt on left and 2 on the right (when looking at the bike). The pink slip says 2003, but when I did the VIN decode it was made in Oct 2002. It is a very fun bike! Thanks again
  5. (2003 Pampera) Hi, I removed the front axle to look at the brakes and their overall condition and after I put the axle back on, when I tighten the nut (even a bit), the wheel stops spinning. I have done this before on my Sherco trials for a tire change, so I wasn't expecting any problems... I did notice that the left side of the axle has mushroomed out a bit probably due to hitting it. It is probably 1/8inch out from flush. The only thing I can think of is to get a new axle and see if this helps. Wanted to check before I purchase. Thanks!
  6. Thanks, I just tried 6 rear and 9 front and it was better than 12/12. I think I'll stick with that for a while...
  7. Hi, just got a 2003 Pampera and the rear tire says tubeless and the front say tube. They are Maxxis - Trial Maxx tires. If I am riding slow (& no jumps), can I run at 8psi(USA) in the front and 5psi in the rear? (My first ride I put in 12psi in the front/back and wouldn't mind it a bit lower). I have a Sherco trials bike and run 7-8 in front and 4-5 in back. Would like to know the lower limit and then I'll raise it up, depending on the terrain, rocks, and speed I am riding. Thanks!
  8. Thanks, I never noticed that about 2 strokes...No filter, but change the oil more often I guess...
  9. I didn't see it in the manual or engine diagram and couldn't find anything on google search... Thanks!
  10. The manual says 10W40 750cc. The Internet says ;-) 650cc if just an oil change. And I have seen 10W30 as well. Other posts recommend ATF (F? or Dexron3?) as that seems common for GG trials. It *looks* like ATF is in there now (red-ish) I haven't heard of 10W40 for a trials bike, so I thought I would double check. Right now the clutch is "grabby" in first gear when riding a figure 8 (so bad it is kinda hard to do at idle speed). The bike probably had been sitting for 3-4 months. Wondering what is updated wisdom on this before I change out the oil. ------ Also, the manual says this for gas/oil ratio: A semi-sintehetic or synthetic oil for twostroke engines should be used for the oil-fuel mixture, with a ratio of 1,5. Does this mean 50:1 or 80:1? I have an older trials bike that is 80:1, would be great to use that. Or maybe both at 70:1? Not sure how sensitive these bike are to the ratio... ------ Thanks!
  11. Taking it out in the sun and with additional scrubbing, I think I found it near the kick-start
  12. I have found the frame serial number, but looking for the one on the engine...(need for DMV) Thanks!
  13. I used to have a 2002 TXT Pro, and I could get the most common parts... but I am not sure if the Pampera engine/trans/etc. are the same parts or not. I assume you can't get the plastic parts, which is ok. Was thinking of picking one up. Thanks!
  14. On adjusting the idle, I heard both "you can" and "you can't". I called up Adrian and he said you can adjust it w/o the SW or changing the TPS. Maybe only minor adjustment? Don't know. I did mine today and seemed to work fine. I am bringing it to the mountains and am hopeful that it will run good! --- To adjust it, you use a 7mm wrench to loosen the nut on the throttle anchor stop (right side). With the nut loose, you use needle nose pliers to move out the threaded bolt to adjust the "stop" in/out...so that the throttle really just doesn't close. Very mechanical ;-)
