  1. Anyway I found the specs and it's ok on the sideplay but not on the axial play, it's a bit over the 2mm max allowed. The small end bearing feels a bit loose too. The piston feels a bit too loose, and the ring end gap is too large. So I'm in for a rebuild It wiull be a winter project. I will need to find a place who splits crankshafts
  2. yes, my bad, side play
  3. ok, I found something, I think I will be on a big rebuild of the engine, piston, rings, overbore, conrod and bearings and find a place to split the crank...
  4. I did not find the spec on how much freeplay there should be on the big end bearing? I

    Kick Starter

My kick starter has cracket at the pivot. I tried two times to weld it and it never holds, Anyone has succesfully welded one? It's a ty175
  8. it is now running like a charm. apart for a fair bit of piston slap and the clutch that was jammed. So point and condenser fixed the issue, now you can hear the spark
  9. I updated my location, I'm from Quebec, Canada. Before trying to source or rewind a source coil, I will try with the points, condenser and ignition coil I ordered and do a hard ground. I checked my source coil with an ohm meter and it seemed within specs. But such low impedance are hard to measure with a cheap multimeter. If the source coil was to be faulty I would try to have it rewound by an electric motor shop I think
  10. is it expensive to rewind a source coil?
  11. I just ordered my ignition tune up from www.tytrials.com, should get within a couple of weeks, can't wait to see it running !!
  12. I did change HT coil but not stator coil, as it looks good
  13. Tonight, I removed the stator plate, and cleaned it good, as well as the mating surface on the engins, so now I'm confident that my grounds are good. I ground down the paint on the HT coil mounting surface and replaced the wire between the condenser and HT coil. Still weak intermitent spark. So now I have to source points and condenser I think, if I cannot get them locally I will order on the Internet, takes longer to get them though
  14. Is there a way to adjust the points gap tithout removing constantly the flywheel?

    Spark Issue

Hi, I just got this TY175 that was given to me. It sat for a couple of years and the last time the previous owner tried to start it, it wouldn't start. He told me there was no spark, and that when he opened the mag cover it was half fll of water. I started diagnosing with the knowledge I have and information found on the internet. First thing I found is that the ingnition coil is dead, open on the primary side, son I bought an aftermarket one. Installed it, cleanet points and set points gap and now I only have weak intermittent spark. I will order new points and condenser, is there anything else I should check?
