  1. Finally got my original barrel back and got the bike built up seems all good. But now the fuel tank has changed shape that much that the fuel tap isn’t sealing!!!!!
  2. I’ve now been told the guys on holiday so have to wait until he’s back so he can agree they sent the wrong barrel. Won’t be dealing with these again.
  3. I’ve now spoken to them and sent the pats back. They have been helpful enough just hope the correct parts come back soon so I get get back out
  4. I’ve recently sent my top end off to a company for an exchange I’ve now received the parts back I have been given my original head back and a replacement barrel. Now ive started to build it up and the head is different to the barrel. The head studs don’t line up with the barrel can anyone help me with what’s wrong. Is there a deferent barrels depending on age etc? I’m awaiting a call back from the company now. Has anyone ever had a similar problem?
  5. I’ve emailed them in hope they can help cheers matey
  6. Hi matey yes I’m pretty certain it was lack of 2 stroke and we have ordered a bottom end gasket set and seals and crank bearings the crank is good conrod good just the top end to deal with and i has a quick look earlier in work at the 290 piston can’t remember exact sizes but everything apart from bore size was the same I have access to all machinery to bore the barrel out etc just wondering if anyone has gone over size to that extent and if it worked ok. Looking at the thickness off the barrel wall I think I will get away with it as for the costs etc I’ll be doing all the work myself so shouldn’t be too bad just a idea if someone has done it and if the barrel coped ok
  7. Hi all a friend of mine has a 2007 Sherco 250 he was out at the weekend and the bike locked up on him anyway I’ve removed the engine and stripped it down the fault is the crank bearings one side has fell apart and the piston and barrel is scored so what I’m after is any info on companies that can resleeve or plate the barrel or even somewhere I could get a new or used barrel many thanks Chris
  8. Yes mate cheers I have now ordered a water pump and new gaskets loving the bike now I'm going to look into entering some events soon hopefully it's just hard finding out about these evens
  9. Yes matey I will be keeping a close eye on it and to be honest mate I'm not expecting it to last long really it was just a temporary quick fix as I had oil there and wanted to be out riding that day
  10. Thanks for the comments guys and well bikes brilliant again now I've took the cheap option of fixing it and I've done about 10 hours riding now fault free see how long it lasts. I've sanded down the clutch plates and put fresh oil in also fresh oil on the forks and replaced the seals and with the water pump the shaft was worn so looked into replacing the shaft and seal but I settled with using my original seal and shaft and fitted smaller springs on the seal and upto now all is great
  11. Recently purchased a gasgas 300 and I'm made up with the bike but after a few outings I thought it best to do some maintenance It's had a very heavy clutch and this site has been brilliant for finding out how to resolve this issue Also the fork seals have give up so after a great day at hawks nest I decided to pull it apart to sort the heavy clutch when removing the sump plug it let out a lot of loverly emulsified creamy oil so a little research and I'm going with water pump seals whilst removing the engine casing I seen that previous owner has smeared gasket glue all over the face of the water pump housing when I started to remove the couch plates I found loads of gasket glue jammed in every where also in the sump very rough job had been done on the bike so looks like I've got to do abit more than just changing oil I'll try and upload some pictures now All comments and thought welcome Regards chris
  12. That's great much appreciated matey thanks
  13. Hi all I have a 2007 sherco 250 and was out riding the other day the bike started heavily smoking and breathing oil from the crank case I'm putting it down to crank Seal on the clutch side? Question being is it a bad job is the seal on the outer side of the engine casing or is it full strip down ? Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks Chris
