  1. Hello to you all Have not been on here in a while, due to family commitments. My question today is thus. Whilst clearing my garage last week I had to move my cota 200 round a few times.It started me thinking that it would be good to restore this bike. Are spares readily available, now that snadifords are no longer the mont men? If they are where from? Thanks in advance Graham

Micm Yeah the bike is from down south, Petersfield to be exact.The guy rides in gosport and alton trials as I do(occaisionally), so like you say it wont of seen any big rocks.He bought it new and has owned it since.Not done much work.I have ridden it once, over at privett, and as you say it is very different from the Beta.   3. Hello to you All Currently I own a Rev 3 250 2004, and have a friend that is selling an 07 sherco 250.Fancy a change, as I am getting a bit tired of the Beta. Just wanted to know are there any issues with these bikes. A bit sceptical of buying a brand I know nothing about.Did the same when I bought the beta, only to find stator/cdi and carb problems. Any info/advice gratefully received Graham

  5. Give Lampkins a call.They are very helpful and offer a very prompt delivery service.The same thing happened to me on my techno.Rings ended up welded to the piston.If barrel is scored it will have to be replated. John Lampkin Beta uk 01535 655970 Regards Graham
  6. Hi Stork Yeah done that.Drained fuel tank and put in a slightly richer mix to run the new bits in.Also stripped and cleaned carb with compressed air. Graham

Hi to you all I have recently(3 months ago) rebuilt my 97 270 techno.I only got round to starting it yesterday as i have been very busy with work etc. I put in new piston,rings,smallend and gudgeon pin etc.When i went to start it yesterday it is running really rough.It wont tick over on its own and when you get ready to kick it over you can hear awhoosh sound coming from the air intake. Any ideas?

    Rebuild

    Hi All I am in the process of putting a new set of rings and piston into my 270 techno. Are there any things I should do to the piston/rings during installation,ie oil the bore/piston/rings. Cheers Grahamcota
  9. Husky I think it is definately the piston and rings. The rings are actually welded into the piston.Think it has been worn for some time and the lips of the piston have formed over the rings.Going to order a new kit from Lampkins in a mo.
  10. Hi Husky I am using repsol oil with a 70:1 ratio,as advised by lampkins. Do you know how much a piston kit is?
  11. Hi All I have a 98 techno 270.The other day i had it in my garage,giving it a tweak and all of a sudden the engine stopped dead.Now I have no compression when I try to kick it over. Any ideas? Through rational thought I think it can only(lol) be one of three things a; A hole in the piston b;broken ring(s) c; wooddruff key broken. Any ideas or thoughts and info on this would be greatly appreciated. Grahamcota
  12. HI All I currently have a 98 270 techno but i have the chance to buy a 01 280 txt.Never ridden the gasser so dont know how different it is if at all.Would like some advice on the gassr and wether it is worth changing regards grahamcota

Aloha I have exactly the same bike.I have owned it for six months now and it is an excellnt bike.Easy to ride and quite forgiving.Have ridden afew diff. newer makes (gas gas,sherco),and the techno doesnt feel like a 8 year old bike. Just keep fluids topped up and use good quality two stroke oil(repsol,rock oil)and you will be fine Regards Grahamcota
