  1. PHB yeah that's probably best, I can't afford a 4x4 so I have a small car and will only be travelling about an hour maximum to any trial so a one bike trailer I would be happy with even doing 50mph. The racks are heavy in the first place never mind putting a bike on it. If I could have any transport I would have a Mercedes Vito they look good when they are kitted out.

    Hello

Thanks for the advice. I went up to a bike shop today who do quite a few bikes I think what I will do is buy a bike for about
  3. Now 150kg is safe, I didn't know that some vehicles can have that which in that case would be fine and I would be happy to transport with a bike rack. I would be worried that I could be pulled at anytime and dished out a fine because my car wasn't safe due to the load, at the end of the day if it's a dangerous load I wouldn't want to be driving I would rather get to a place safely and not have to worry about anything, again just my opinion. I will be getting a one bike trailer for myself when I get a bike. Everyone has different ways of operating after all so it's what ever suits you.

    Hello

Hi Rich,Cheers for the reply. Yeah I've heard about Manchester 17 when I was thinking about taking up Trials ages ago. Dead easy, is that riding on pebbles then, lol. A school for Trials, Motorcross needs to be set up somewhere so that potential future riders can have a go and even get taught. I am going to a few bike shops in the next couple of weeks to take a look at a few bikes.
  5. I will not be attempting to go up massive rocks in Lycra as I am new to trials, so I should think I would be quite safe going over small obstacles for the first year of my riding. I would not want to carry a nice expensive bike on the back of a towbar that is not intended to carry such weight, 1) I would be worried of the stress on the bar and the rear of the car. 2) I don't fancy it falling off, ie on the motorway especially if the towbar gives in and then you could end up causing a serious accident and being prosecuted, then you wouldn't even be allowed to drive your car. Don't get me wrong here, people can't afford trailers or a van or may not have the space so they buy a rack, which is fair enough but you have to make sure it is safe for all aspects otherwise your jeopardising yourself and opening yourself up to possible nightmare scenarios. Personally in my opinion bike racks on towbars are best suited to pedal cycles.

    Hello

I am from Manchester mate. I was thinking something like a Beta or Gasgas what are they built like.
  7. Just a query regarding a rack on the back of the car. A towbar has a maximum down force weight on it, mine is 50kg what I don't understand is how can you put a bike on the back of it and it be safe? Thanks

    Hello

Hello, I am new to the Trial scene and looking to get into Trials riding. Never really done it before but would like to give it a go.Might get up to some Trials in the next couple of months to see what its all about. Any advice? What sort of bike would I get with about
  9. Hello, All sounds good to me. Tom I will send you a message. Is there any online stores where I can have a look at equipment?
  10. Yeah I am looking for some in North West I believe there is one in Buxton and Macclesfield. I am hoping to go to the Sheffield Indoor trials, but this might paint a different picture, I am not sure. Them places to rent bikes are quite away from me, going down to local trials will probably be the best then. Thanks for the reply's.
  11. That would help wouldn't it, haha.I live in UK, Greater Manchester.
  12. Hello All, Hope you can help. I have always been interested in off - road bikes, motorcross, trial's and quad's. Now here comes the question's, Before I decide to take up Trial riding as another hobby/sport I want to actually give it ago pre spending my cash, I don't want to lay out my money for something that I aint going to take to. Is there anywhere that does taster session's? So you can give it a try before you buy sort of thing. I have seen the demo day's where you can have a go on a new set of bikes etc, however with that I will need to buy safety equipment but as i previously said it then costs me money. I have seen places where you can have a motorcross experience and quad experience where all the gear is laid on but nothing for trials. As I am looking at getting into it in the future is there a site where I can look at that will give me knowledge and understanding of trial riding, like the points scoring and stuff like that, I would rather read up on the sport than post a thousand topic's on here to ask you. Thanks Oh and them new 2009 Gassers look nice to.
