  1. thanks for the replies Barry and Dougie think i'll get the bike sorted out and go with SXS, does anyone know where in he runs the school in Gloucestershire? just one more question, i was told when i bought the bike to run it at 50:1 but have read on here about most people running at about 70:1, i must admit it doesn't feel crisp when i've ridden the bike and having whacked the throttle open in 1st was expecting to either go over the back or at least pull a wheelie, instead it stuttered then went forward but no lightning acceleration. could this be that the engine needs a de-coke (do engines running on synthetic oil coke up?) or should i presume the worst and say the engines top end needs a rebuild? beginning to wish i'd never bought it now but having travelled for four hours to see it and then viewing the bike outside in the rain all i wanted to do was get it in the van and go home, you live and learn (hopefully) thank in advance again. Kenny
  2. Hi there, i recently bought my first ever trials bike, a 94 Beta Techno 250. my list of questions are as follows : 1. what type of oil and how much do i use in the gearbox 2. it needs a new chain and sprockets, got the chain but where do i get the sprockets and whats the best sizes to use? 3. the rear brake doesn't work at all, looks like it could it be the master cylinder, can you get seal sets for these? 4. a few of the spokes on the rear wheel are lose, can they be tightened by myself or are they best left to an expert, if so who? 5. what are the best tyres for a complete novice? 6. i've looked into doing a trial school like the one based in Stratford upon Avon, can anyone recommend these? 7. are there any books or dvd's i should buy to help me learn to ride a trials bike? sorry for so many questions but i'd like to do it properly if i can. i'm currently living just outside York but i'm moving to South Birmingham next week if that helps in any of the questions. thanks in advance. Kenny
  3. thanks for the information and the name does come from Kenny Dalglish in my younger footballing days but later on it came from Kenny Roberts Snr and yes it does help that i'm also called Kenny
  4. well i've just bought my first trials bike, a 94 Beta Techno 250. i've never done trials riding before but really like the look of it. the bike needs a bit of work doing to it like new chain and sprockets, a few loose spokes in the back wheel, the back tyre has a split in the side wall and possibly both fork seals. nothing a few days in the garage cant fix though but where do you find workshop manuals for this type of bike? as i've not dealt with spoked wheels for a long time and have no idea what weight oil and how much is needed in the fork legs. i'm currently living in Yorkshire but i'm moving to Birmingham in the next few weeks so the work will have to wait until after the move. i do have some other questions but i'll look for the right section to put them in.
