  1. Hello, the tlm 50 engine and the mt5 mb5 motors are not the same.To be fair to andy m there are a lot of internal parts that are interchangeable. Tlm motors are the next gen motor along similar to mbx 50,(brit market) mtx 50 s.h ( german market). Someone does a 70 kit. vsmotoparts.com. Not sure about exhaust port angle? ive done a fair bit to mine, 100cc.Stock gearing and pulls third up hills,( with a bit of run up:)great little bike. Always puts a smile on my face. Hope this is some help.

    Tlm 50 ?

hello. have got the (big) motor together and running, could not get 113 cc. but ended up with 100cc. the exhaust was tricky, but the inlet manifold and air box was straight forward. ended up with a larger Honda carb.and to my amazement it started second kick and carbertes well. The power is better than I expected. it pulls well through the rev range, but does not rev right out. possibley main jet or I did leave the large washer in the fat part of the front pipe.im guessing its about 10bhp. fingers crossed it will hold together, only time will tell. still needs a little bit of finishing, but has turned out far better than I was excepting and still looks standard. well pleased. will get some pics as soon as ive borrowed a camera.

    Tlm 50 ?

hi bilco, sorry for the delay. the motor is coming along well. I started off with different cases, [which still fit straight in.] different crank, barrel and head, all modded to fit. still running 5 speed box, its still air cooled and Honda. 113cc at the mo with room for a bit more. the exhaust and inlet manifold will take some time but its getting there. dont know what carb to fit. might run 22 mm pwk rep. if it runs I hope it holds together. will let you know when it runs? all the best. fatchef.

    Tlm 50 ?

Hi thanks for sharing this pic. The liquid cooled motor looks like its out of a honda mtx 80, but they do have a weak gearbox and a very revvy, peaky power delivery.I bet you notice the difference in power to stock 50 though! Its nice to see a few more of these little bikes about. Ive owed mine for about four years now and done a few mods to improve it,and it always puts a smile on my face.Every section is big time!.Im currently building a big bore motor hoping to get alot more cc,s. Will keep you posted if anyones interested?
  5. Thanks for the reply. will check the camshaft timing. fingers crossed.
  6. Hi there. can anyone help me, my 4rt bogs when you crack the thottle open and it will stall if the throttle is is kept open. but if you back it off 3-4 mm it will rev out as normal. the bike is a 06 repsol. I have tried other maps, but no joy. other than that its a good one. Thanks for any info.

    Honda Tlm 50/80

i use a stock carb, but with the side of the airbox opened up abit around the intake. i agree that its a shame to mod a stock bike. mine had already been big bored.i tried a honda h100 carb, which fits with no mods, but did not run well.may be with a rejet it would go better? hope this is of some help.

    Honda Tlm 50/80

dont think the 80 top end would fit.the outer diameter of the cylinder is to large to go into the crankcases.i run a modded kx 65 piston in a standard barrel, the work was carried out at bdk, they may have changed the porting and compression as well. the motor is alot better than stock.its not a revver, like a litle ty 175,i ride the inter class on it.some climbs are to big, but that o.k it is what it is. all in all [cc taken into account and my weight,16 stone.]its a great little bike. all the best.

    Honda Tlm 50/80

I had a measure up of my tlm 50. 740 mm from the top of the fork to the center of the spindle. Wheel base from spindle to spindle is 1300 mm, in middle of chain adjustment. i also have a mtx 80 which has almost the same crankcases, i havnt tried it in but ive seen one fitted in a tlm 50 in japan. i dont know if they made an 80, if they did i guess it was air cooled. mtx 80 is liquid cooled. also if anyones interested. the mt 5, h100 motors are different in lots of ways to the tlm. Hope this is of some help?

    Tlm 50 ?

I think the picture of fast eddy at the scottish is from 86. If i remember rightly he was sixteen at the time, dont know if he finnished, i believe he had two different front sprockets with him, one for the sections and one for the road. His brother was saunders mechanic, so the bike might have been trick. The boy in the pic working on the bike looks like john shirt jr ? if anyone has any info on tlm 50`s i would be grateful to hear from you on this page.
  11. Hi,golner did make a mono shock 200 .In about 1987 my mate rode one in the youth b class .It was pink and white like eddys RTL of the same year.Hope this is of some help.
  12. It wouldnt surprise me if Freixa was to win a round on a gasser. On the hard stuff he still has mega rides, his consistency and the scorpa have been his down fall.As long as he goes well on it,who cares what it says on the tank.
  13. Thanks for the replies, How are the error codes displayed ? Do i need any special equipment to read the codes. If anything goes wrong i would like to keep away from expensive dealers if pos, hence interest in subject. Are there any things to look out for when buying used 4rts? I guess that there are only small different's between year to year?
  14. Hi. Im looking to buy a 4rt soon, and was wondering does the standard throttle body output error codes for fault finding, or do i have to have the adjustable throttle body to do this ?
