#302437 Can Someone Talk Me Through The Process

Posted lacey9 on 05 May 2012 - 09:37 AM

Well, I have to say that I'm already feeling a little disenfranchised. It was the simplicity and elegance of Trials that has drawn me in, but it seems that the notion of riding through a section without dabbing a foot on a motorized bike is something that has become entrenched in complexities and debate.

Seems a shame. I'll let you know what I think of both regardless.

theDBF, on your track day bike you could quite easily come down 2 on the front and up 2 on the rear. This normally meant that 1st was useless, but you got to use 4th 5th and maybe even snatch 6th at a push. the general idea was that you kept the motor spinning and every gear change was nearly into maximum power. Thats what you want from a track day bike.
Same thing applies on a trials bike, but remember, your rarely on full throttle (or even half)
This means that if you do accidentally grab a huge handfull of throttle, it isnt going to accelerate too fast, more revs less speed.
I cant remeber what bike youve got? are you trying to back off the power or is this just a hypothetical question?

Cheers

Paul

I'm having a rather healthy debate elsewhere, on another forum, who are all road/track riders, I have said that I have read on here and on Trials UK vids that to calm your bike down, you can go a tooth down, however, they are all disputing this, although none of them are giving a reasoned argument as to why.

#264047 Best twinshock Fantic...?

Posted lee harris on 02 March 2011 - 11:14 AM

In 1978 I rode a TY175. In 1979, the 125 fanny beat everything. In 1980 i rode a beamish. The 200s beat everything. In 1983 I saw that the 240s beat every thing. in 1984, the ty mono happend and cleaned up. as far as Twin shock goes and at that time at National loevel, the fantics are the best.

These days, the sections seem easier 8I am told) at least we dont bend 240 frames like we did then.

Anyhows, IMO the fantic win handsdown. The 200 Minarelli was good enough then. the 240 can move my lardy weight a bit better and my small ego says I need a 340

pay yer money and take yer choice.

majesty/TLR/Jumbos are just not for me
