  1. WOODY i agree with you in some situations they dont work as well as a 2t in mud, i think this is because they dont rev so high to keep the rear wheel spinning faster to burn through mud like the 2t can. my son <when he can be bothered> is also at the sharp end of the novagar rounds and last year was top 5 in the wallace and colmore on a 4rt and you dont get trials muddier than these, this year on a 300 gas gas his results were no better. i also agree with you about the repsol replica to much money for afew painted and bolt on bits. They should have come with 280 or 300 engine and adjustable ptb to suit + a lot more trick bits like the raga rep or racing gasser . i have seen pictures and spec,s of the 2010 mitani 4rt which comes as a260cc + different cam ptb etc i think if the price was right they would sell well here. THE 4rt has a long way to go to better the tyz like you say but as it has only been out since 05 its still early days, but i think as the engine is under so little load for trials useit will go on and on. it could be the c90 of the trials world !!
  2. hi all. i have had my 4rt for 3 years now and i must say its the best bike ive ever had, brilliant fun totally reliable and puts a smile on my face every time i use it. never had a problem finding grip as the addict says the irc tyre seems to work well with the 4rt in muddy conditions and a michelins great for rocky streams and in the dry. the biggest problem i had was stalling the bike when it was new ha ask the addict as he was there to watch my nice trips over the bars. a change of gearing 9/42 or 43 and faster tickover cured the problem. my bike has been used twice a week sometimes more if im in the good books since new and each session a min of 4 hours, the engine is as strong now as it was new which is more than can be said for any two stroke. while on the subject of 2ts i recently tried my friends beta evo,s a 250 and 290 on a muddy climb the mont i could wheelie out the top of the climb the beta,s i failed miserably each time, had to give them back in the end before they got damaged. im not dishing the beta in any way just trying to say if i ever went back to a 2t i would have to change my riding style to suit. WIEGHT PROBLEM with showa suspension front and rear the best on any trials bike i really dont notice the bike is any heavier to ride compared to any thing else although putting the bike in the van or stand at the end of the day its a bit of a lump conpared to my lads 300 gasser. RELIABLE in the 3 years i have owned bike no problems replaced rear suspension bushes once and just the usual pads chain sprockets etc + oil and filters. NOISE fitted mitani silencer bike runs even better less engine braking and softer quieter noise. as you can probably tell i am a montesa 4rt fan through and through i agree they are to exspensive but not looking so bad now when you look at new gasser racing
  3. what did the riders think of the no stop rules ? from a spectators point of view i thought the clerk of the course did a good job of the sections, but it was boring to watch. there was a lot of nervous looking riders as it seemed a bit of a lottery as to what each observer deemed a stop.
  4. addict nice discription of how you looked but you forgot the main defineing feature ? The ROLL UP !!!!
  5. bleed it at the banjo bolt on master cylinder first where the rear brake hose joins cylinder. have found air always gets trapped there, then bleed out the rest of the system as normal. hope that helps
  6. in what ways is it better than the original shock ? i understand there is a gold or silver colour to the shock body on the ohlins is there any difference to how they perform ? also has anyone tried the type with the extra resovoir or tried a longer shock as suposedly fitted to the 09 montesa
  7. hi mate definatly worth a try! 4rt rider at the weekend had one on and he was getting up everything !!! tom used one at colmore had resonable result in the mud. i had one an thought it was ok but for some reason leaked slightly on tyre bead when riding but didnt leak during the week parked up in shed, robs using one at the moment and his is doing the same. have also found they are ok on rocks but useless in hot weather sidewalls to flexi feels like riding with a punture. the best new tyre ive had for grip was a dunlop with 2-3 psi pressure in it, again not as good as mich on the rocks and didnt wear as well
  8. anymore news ?? i really hope a deal is sorted its just what all us montesa fans need someone decent to promote the bike at top level in this country. there has been a rumour locally that a famous father is also involved with the deal ?? ADDICT do you know if the slough based accountant is his dad ?
  9. thats great news tell me more. this could be just what montesa needs a top expert in this country to promote the bike. will he ride for honda gb now that sandifords are no longer the importers ? do you no if he will ride the british champs if so what class ? im really keen to no who the rider will be. i have just noticed the year ? 2011 surely if he is that good they will sign him up for 2010

    Evo Virgin

GAY !!! as ralph is also going the evo route i think theres going to be lots of talk about how much time you are spending together in the shed polishing your tools !! as for the 200 or 250 i reckon you will find the 200 lacking for what you like to ride and it will be easy to soften a 250 than to try and get more power from the 200. selfishly i thought great they are both getting evos i can have all your 4rt spares but then i remembered they are so reliable and class bits of kit that you wouldnt have any spares ha. Any way good luck with what ever you decide and enjoy dusting down and polishing your tool. x
