    Ty250A Carb

If it ain't broken, don't fix it
  2. I had one of them as a yoof for me LC350
  3. The inner bit of the clutch spins very freely and not sure if an air gun will do the trick
  4. Help ! I am stripping my 1987 TY250 and need a clutch holding tool so that I can undo the large clutch nut Does anybody have one that I could borrow ? Or do you know one from other bikes that will fit mine? There are plenty on Ebay for other bikes, so would be helpful to know which others will fit Many thanks in advance
  5. I am in Thame in Oxfordshire. I would like to buy the manual. How much ? By the way, I have just found out that the gear shaft is an easy job. Puill off the clutch and it slides in there Just bought one off Ebay for £8.
  6. Today I finally got both TY250s working and was chuffed to buggery. But one wouldn't select any gears so I gave the lever a hefy push, and it sort of fell off. The shaft snapped leaving about an inch sticking out. First thought was to get it welded back on, but there is aforementioned oli seal about an inch away. Is welding a possibility ? Anyway, I got the engine on the bench now and merrily started stripping it down. Got head and barrels off before me belly told me it was food time. I haven't done any engine work reallly, since my racing days in the 80s I noticed that the casings split vertically, not horizontally like my old LCs and YPVS Yamahas. Do these engines need lots of special tools to get bits off ? IS rebuild simple enough ? Is setting the ignition timing on rebuild quite easy ? Should I take it to me local mechanic and give him some dosh to rebuild it? Anybody got a workshop manual ? Sorry for so many questions
  7. Hi, I have a pair of 1985 monoshock TY250 Yams. Not road legal and only 1 has a log book, but have receipts for both. Obviously not mint condition and been stood for about a year. I have had them for years, but nowhere to ride them locally. They have always run well and am sure they will again, once I get my lazy body out into the garage. I have no idea of the sale value, so waddya reckon ? Also what's the best place to sell them ?
  8. I'm getting a bit frustrated in my search I've been told that other Yamahas have the same carb - would anyone know which bikes ?
  9. It's my first post, so please be gentle Last time we were out on the TY250s, one fell over and wouldn't start so I stripped the carb. Not a good idea in the mud Anyway, the pin that holds the float on, fell out. I found that, but didn't notice that the float valve/needle also fell out (1986 Monoshock jobbies) I'm not sure if they are specific or one fits all. Do any other bikes have same carbs ? Just hoping that somebody will know what it needs or has one that might fit. It's worth a few pints if one of you can help me out Cheers
