  1. Have't done that yet, I've currently got the waterpump housing off, awaiting a new seal to cure the white oil problem? But I think it seemed to come from the right hand side...... I'll check again when I get it all back together. Dave

    Strange Noise

Hi all When I start my '98 techno, it ticks over really good and smooth while upright, but if I lean it over to the right or left, by only about 30 deg or so, a strange rough tickover or grinding sound comes from within??? What do you recon it might be? Dave
  3. Well, now I'm baffled??????? Removed the flywheel ........... woodruff key is fine! so re-fitted flywheel. Removed sparkplug........ it looked fine, but replaced it with a new one? just cos I had one. Tapped the carberetor while saying "abra codabra" to try and get the fuel leaking......... bt still no leak? Took one half hearted press on the kickstart and........................... What the F........ ? It started, brum brum! Now I can concentrate on the brake and clutch ...............
  4. I've put new fuel mix in, but for some strange reason the carb doesn't seem to be leaking as much as it used to when it ran? maybe its stuck? I'll have another tinker in a day or so when I receive the flywheel puller i've ordered. I'll try out all your suggestions and keep you posted, thanks.
  5. Thanks for that. When you say air line, what sort of pressure are you talking about, do you think a bike pump would work?
  6. Hi I'm trying to get this Beta Techno 1998 up and running. I recently bought it from a guy who left it stood for at least 2 years .... it needs most things sorting now ... When I got it it started 1st or second kick. But brakes and clutch didn't work. I've sorted front brake, I've bled clutch but it still didn't work ,,, i not too worried yet, cos the mechanism moves a little, so I'm hoping after a little run the plates will free up and that will be that ? I hope. But while starting it the other day the kickstart stuck under the footrest with the engine running.. I released it but with a bit of a clatter! since then it won't start? just an occasional back fire. After reading some posts, I'm hoping its the woodruff key that went, but we shall see? Any other ideas welcome, also is there a way of preventing the kickstart getting stuck behind the footrest? What size flywheel puller do I need? Anyway onto my other problem, the rear brake..... I tryed bleeding it, the footpedal doesn't seem to make as much effect as the front brake lever when tring to pump air through, am I missing something? Anyway I did my best, but absolutly no movment from the pistons... they actually look in good conditions and the pads are almost new, I guess the pistons siezed open a while ago, the brake pipe wasn't even connected? Is there a good way of releiseing the pistons, I can't press them in cos they are alreading fully in, I want them to move out... any help welcome. Also, where do you get a spark plug spanner from that fits? there isn't much room is there. Hope some of you can help, Speak to you all soon Dave
