    Ty80 Help

I bought a TY80 a week ago for the kids to learn on, everything was running fine until the other day when it ran out of petrol. Since then it has not fired up at all. I have checked the obvious things: the plugs sparking, fuel's getting to the carb although both jets were blocked, these have now been cleaned and carb seems to be working ok, have also checked air filter. Have been running the bike on a 50:1 mix as recommended by previous owner. Any other suggestions?
  3. Thanks, Is it just the Sherco's or do other trials bikes suffer from the same problem? Just realised i've posted this in the wrong section....not only new to trials but forums too! Cheers
  4. Hi I went to have a look at a 250 Sherco yesterday. The bike ran fine and was clean enough although when put into gear the clutch was siezed. It only took 30 seconds or so of riding to free itself although the bike had been riden earlier that day. I was just wondering if this is a common Sherco fault and should I steer clear of it. Once free the bike ran ok. Thanks for any help you can offer.
  5. Sure, will let you know how i get on. I've got the cash waiting and the permission from my wife, now I just need to find the right bike. Dave
  6. Hi Kluson Thanks for your help. I live in n/w London and I'm searching the net for some clubs to go along to. I did speak to one guy who suggested maybe a 125 to start with. I guess it makes sense to shell out enough cash to buy something reliable and not have to worry about. On the other hand i'm thinking about buying a cheap bike to learn on and then upgrade later? Its funny how this came about. I'm 42 now and as a young lad always wanted to do trials but never did. Now I have the bug again all because I went to a trial to watch..nice one. Good luck with your trials comeback
  7. Hi Just thought I'd introduce myself. I went to my first trial on Sunday just to see what it was all about. I knew nothing about the sport other than what I had seen on TV. I got talking to a few people who were only to happy to pass on info and explain the rules to me, what a great bunch of people. I'm 42 and was looking for a new hobby so I've now persuaded my wife to make some room in the garage and i'm hunting for a bike. I was wondering if there are any makes of bike that I should steer clear of and also what engine size should I go for? Any advice on how to get started would be apreciated. Thanks Dave
