    Buying '05 3.2

The bike has a new engine, not a rebuild but a completely new engine. It has the retro kit for starting, and I'm not sure what other mods have been done. I'm surprised to hear all the negative feedback, I thought the 05 was a great bike as long as it was starting! I live in Canada and picking up a bike of these years is always about 3 or 4 grand. There is an '06 monty 4rt available for 5 thousand, but I figure the new engine in the sherco puts it over the top in comparison. Also the 4rt is loud, and from what I've read, feels heavier and less powerful. I know the fuel injection is awesome, however. I am mostly looking for 'other' problems the '05 320's had/have, so I know what to look for when I test ride it.

    Buying '05 3.2

I found an '05 3.2 for a good deal... what should I watch out for?
  3. My Gas Gas 280 felt like it was going to snap in half on any jump higher than about 7 or 8 feet, even with a nice tranny. I was told if I sprung it any stiffer it would really suffer on the climbs. I like the mtb trails and natural cliffs and even kickers on the trials bike. I want the bike to feel ok off a 10 or 15 footer, nothing huge but just regular mtb drops. What are you guys doing who are into jumps? Are the guys in Out of Section just using different bikes for each different style of riding?
  4. Thanks man. I liked everything about my 280 except the overheating... I guess I should have been looking for problems instead of thinking it was the bike. Maybe it's back to a Gas Gas for me >>>
  5. Thanks for the responses.... I keep getting mixed opinions from BC riders who tell me thier 2t bikes run great up the hills, mostly from Sherco riders. Sure sounds like a near consensus on the forums though for the 4t. I guess I would go for the Scorpa 250f as this bike needs to be quiet, the 4rt sure looks dialed though. Anyone ride thier Sherco up 10 km worth of logging roads? There's an 06 290 here for half the price I can find 4 strokes. Are 4t's just known for better cooling all around, like outside of trials bikes I mean? Seems to me given the same water pump, rad, and coolant cc's there shouldn't be this difference!
  6. I ride in BC and spend time climbing logging roads even when I'm on a trials bike.... I've been told that 4 strokes are better at not overheating on long climbs, what kind of experiences do you guys have? I used to ride a GG280 and it would overheat after about 5 minutes in 5th, sometimes 1 minute! I really don't want a seat, I love trials bikes! Thanks in advance for any experience you guys can offer.
  7. PS. I've never had any problems with MTB or hikers here... they are always too stoked and asking too many questions about how the bike works and how it possibly got there, not to mention why it's so quiet and doesn't wreck the trail!
  8. Hey guys... I live in Nelson BC and do the same kind of riding. I used to have a GG280, but found it overheated fast on FSR climbs... like within a few km kind of thing! I noticed you guys are on Shercos, how do they hold up when riding in 5th or 6th? I loved the GG on the trials, felt just like my Banshee with Monster T's plus nuclear power! Let me know what you guys think.
  9. Looks like a nice ride... way more Betas around here than Montesa, and Montesa has no real importer here now. Thanks for the idea.
  10. Ya, I'm starting to get it.... looks like the 4rt is where I'm headed. Thanks
  11. Hey guys. I'm looking for a bike that won't overheat on long rides up logging roads, my GG 280 txt used to overheat in about 3 km or less. The montesa 4rt has been highly suggested, but I would also like to hear from some guys who have experience using a sherco like this. Thanks for any input Jay
  12. Wow, lots of montesa riders! Sounds like 4 stroke is the way for me... Thanks for all the responses guys! Sounds like this might be managable after all. Anyone have experience with how the Sherco would hold up for this application? Shercos are easier to find around here.
  13. I should mention I live in BC Canada, so I'm usually climbing pretty hard on logging roads. My Gas Gas would overheat to quick to really have fun, and I always felt like I was killing it ( not in the good way ). Are the 4 strokes any better than 2 strokes at speed for long periods? I guess what I'm asking is, is it OK to climb 10km of logging road on a trials bike, and if it is which is the best one? Sounds like you sure have no problems on your Sherco, and obviously you know your stuff, so maybe there was a problem with my Gas Gas. Thanks for whatever input you guys have, I'm sure my questions sound rediculous, but I'm halfway between a KTM 200 exc and a trials bike and thought this might be the place to ask. To picture the riding terrain here think "Last Man Standing" meets gnarly mountain bike trails
  14. Hey guys, Here's my first post.... I was thinking about getting back into trials but I would like to find a bike that can ride around at 50km/h (or 80) as well. I don't know if this exists, or if it is physically possible. My 280 pro was perfect on trails and trials, but I couldn't ride top gear for more than a minute. I know the bikes aren't meant for that, but can any of the bikes do that? How about the Scorpa Long ride? I don't really want a seat but I'll deal with it if I have to! Thanks for any ideas you guys have. Jay
