    rear shocker dead

    thanks for the PMs guys
  2. hi chaps the rear shock on my 2000 txt280 has died can anyone tell me if these units can be refurbished or can i get a patern part the prices i have seen on gas gas stockist sites are silly any ideas please
  3. at last i have a back brake still spongy but now i know the method thanks for all your help chaps . sorry for hijacking your thread gilbertdave
  4. thanks i will give it a whirl i am now on my fourth can of fluid (ha ha)most of it on the garage floor would have been cheaper to take it to the shop
  5. after i sorted that out the main bearings went so i did the rebuild myself never striped a bike engine before so was i bit worried but it turned out not too bad i took step by step photos marked the position of the stator plate and it was fine started second kick the worst part was getting the kick start spring back in properly there is a little notch in the centre spacer for the spring to go into i found it after 2 or 3 hours trying to get the clutch case on mine is a 2000 280 but i guess they are similar good luck
  6. it sounds like the prblem i had when mine was doin it the revs were very slow to drop when the engine was reved it turned out to be crank seals the hardest part for me was gettin the fligh wheel off the previous owner had buggered the threads up for the puller
  7. been at it again today pushing fluid in master cyl then in through caliper tried suckin it through still got nothing should i start with the caliper pistons in or out i might have to give it up
  8. i have been at it today pushing fluid in through master cylinder it is gradually coming there is a bit of pressure on the peddle ran out of brake fluid another session tomorrow should sort it
  9. i agree with crasher dont touch the rear i have been at mine a week tried all the methods mentioned except the submerged one could be plan B good luck
  10. thanks for your input that is a good point about the fluid line i may as well give it a go a friend of mine rides a 300 pro and he says his clutch drags very slightly has done from new i might just have to put up with it until i can afford a beta thanks again
  11. thanks for that very interesting info i will try changing to ATF i am using light gear oil i was told at my local trials shop this is what the old motor needs . to go back to what i have done when i got the bike the clutch dragged so new plates went in no change i have done both master cylinder and slave cylinder rubbers still no change the bike creeps forward if i let brakes off thank you for your time
  12. i have now done the slave cylinder and the clutch is still dragging what can i try now ?
  13. no not yet i will start on the internals if the slave cylinder dose'nt change anything
