  1. Hi all We this is a subject close to my passion. There is lots of speculation about the frames on Armstrongs. I have spoken to some of the people that worked @Armstrong in the 1980 and some are still making frames for other people, but none can tell me if it was top quality steel or just cold drawn steel.??? I have mig welded lots of them with no problem. As regards to moving the foot pegs. Don't I have a bike with foot pegs moved back 50mm Amd the bike is front end light, and won't turn in correct, the standard set up on the bikes is bang on. Don't change... As for the fork angle. It's a big job to Chang as you will have to extend the length of the top tube to get good clearance from the exhaust front pipe. Just take the fork springs out and turn the steering and you will see what I mean it gust misses the front pipe in standard setting. I have a standard 250 Armstrong and it rides bang on... Spend you're money on some good suspension that's the key. Look at some of the trick Fantics and they run standard geometry. Seth...
  2. The rear mud guard is possibly damaged, but its possible the last on make a copy asap then put a e bay and make lots of money...
  3. HI Steve, I have been running Armstrong for the past twenty years and that's a new one... Firstly I have been trying different carburetor for some time and cannot get them to run as good as the amal. 1st check when you had the motor down did you check the magnets they can go off and also fall off when fitting. So pull the flywheel off and check them. 2nd remove the brass choke plunger out of the amal and see if the black rubber is still on they come off. As of the ignition never had any problems with them trimming never gone out. You can run them without the rear exhaust and should run ok. Remove the filter in the tank as that can block. Can you updated on the fix if you have sorted. Simon

Afte all that found this in the water pump cover. Only found by removing the pipes and starting the bike and found the water wouldn't move up or down the pipes.. at last sorted Seth29..

Just to up date the forum. Head been in the oven. New gasket and still the same. Put the head in my dad's lathe and found was out so new gasket and try again.. still the same starting to think it's not the head... The top of the rad is red hot but the lower of the rad cold.. but have had the water pump cover off and the pump turns and the pipes are on the corresponding outlets. May be it's circulation.. As I did fit new aluminum clutch cover ..

The wife is out tonight so think I will try the head in the oven first. Sorry for not putting in the water pump is turning ok. The bike will pressurize at low temperatures if you touch the bottom of the radiator is still cold.

    Skimming Head.

HI, been having some cooling problems on my old rev3 put a hole in the rad but as I was not far of finishing carried on. Big mistake. Now when hot the coolant projects it's self out of the rad cap. Got the head off and replace with new head gasket and run the bike and still the same.... Found the head is our of shape, so has anybody ever skimmed the head and if so how much was removed, or will it pink it's head off and run hot. Thanks Seth.
  10. Would be good to see that picture of the ccm at scout moor. I think it could be a number of riders.. it's a shame we lost scout moor.
  11. Hi there stealth. I have just put my dads old Armstrong 250 back into service after 20 in the shed.. so know what you are going through. I found this bike one of the easiest referbs yet, and what a bike when completed power not that different to (310/320) just needs revving to get the power, so trust me it's worth it. I have a got one or two of them now and have some good contacts if you need hiro parts not a problem will forward you the contact and not bad price, as for exhaust that is the only part you can't get anything made buy Armstrong you have no chance trust me have even been to see clews. Can the exhaust be repaired?? Should be a steel one so not that hard.. as fir the forks you can get them re chromed, I can think of 2 company that do it pitted forks.com or philpots??? they will do one leg if you want, if you need out let us know.. seth29.

  13. Hi woody. I have been trying to match something up for some time now but not found anything up to the job. I have been using pipe insulation on the top tube to hold the tank in place and has been working just change quite often. The air box is a work of art!!! The kick start shaft is starting to become a problem on the hiro am on my last one. Have you got the contact info for hiro racing in Italy he has had every thing I have ever needed. Seth.
  14. Hi all. Going to sound like a b-----h but the bike has round tubing is it not a 310?? But it looks possibly on of the best t/ shocks I have ever seen would love to see how it rides! Ps woody if that is your 320 it's a good one. Seth
