Pre-65 Scottish Just Round Corner

With just over a week to go before pre 65 logothe 2014 Putoline sponsored Pre’65 Scottish Trial gets underway on Friday 2 May, the organising committee are working hard to make this the best one yet as we celebrate our 30th anniversary. The new committee have worked tirelessly to resolve many of the problems that beset the 2013 event and are looking forward to seeing all their hard work come to fruition. One major change is that the Machine examination will take place on Thursday between 2.30pm and 7.30pm and new Machine Examiner, Willie Stewart is looking forward to meeting all the competitors.

To mark this special occasion a parade of all the entrants and their bikes will take place around the streets of Kinlochleven starting at 9.15am on Friday 2 May. Pipers from Lochaber Schools Pipeband will pipe the start of the parade which will be lead by the Clerk of the Course, Willie Robertson and Guest of Honour, Alex Fender, a well-known face at trials in Scotland as well as the SSDT and, of course, the Pre’65 Scottish. James Noble At Cnoc A Linnhe 2013 Scottish Pre-65 TrialJames Noble 2013 Pre-65 TrialJoining them at the head of the parade will be the winner of the raffle for the Number 181 plate, Mark Samuel. The atmosphere created by these magnificent bikes should not be missed. Immediately after the parade, the riders will make their way to the start area ready for the 10am start to commence two days of fierce competition.

There are a few new sections as well as some old favourites with something for all to enjoy. Many of the sections are accessible by foot and spectators are urged not to take bikes around the course. Unauthorised bikes are a major concern for the organisers as it becomes increasingly difficult to gain permission from landowners to use their land. If you are not an official or entered in the trial, you are not authorised so please do not take your bike offroad.

The routes for both days as well as the entry list and a host of interesting articles and photographs are in the 30th Anniversary Souvenir Programme which is well worth the £5 cover price and can be purchased in the start area both days as well as several other outlets within Kinlochleven. Various types of merchandise with our new logo can also be purchased from the Pre’65 Scottish gazebo at the start area both days and in the Community Centre during sign-on on Thursday 1 May.
