Llanidloes (mid Wales) based Hafren Dirt Bike Club will host the next round of the ACU British Solo Trials Championship sponsored by R T Keedwell on Sunday 30th September with additional support obtained for this round from Putoline. The event will see Britain’s best trials riders tackling a course comprising of 3 laps of 12 sections and as usual with BTC events it will start with the Expert Class away first at 9.30 am followed by the Masters, Youth and then Championship riders.
This new round will see riders pitting their riding skills against a mix of natural hazards including steep sided rocky gullies, streams and muddy banks. This should make for an interesting event as it will not be all one type of hazard. A visit to the clubs site will give you a fair idea of what the riders will face. Sections are within reasonable walking distance for spectators. The event is being staged at Glynhafren Farm, Old Hall, Llanidloes, home of 10 times British Enduro champion Geraint Jones and the good news is that parking and admission for spectators is free. In the Expert class, Richard Sadler leads the way with Guy Kendrew in second place. The last round at Guisborough went to Luke Walker but overall Sadler is still sitting in pole position with only two rounds remaining in Scotland after this trial.
The Masters Class sees Midlands’s rider Ross Danby in total control with a perfect record to date. Tom Affleck is his nearest rival but he would need Ross to suffer some major bad luck to catch him at this point.
The Youth Elite is headed by Mitchell Brightmore who returned from injury at the last round and promptly got back into winning ways extending his lead over Gus Oblien.
The Championship Class has seen James Dabill post 5 wins on the bounce leaving 2017 Number 1 Jack Price trying hard to keep with him. Despite Dabill's domination of the series there has still been much to see with the younger riders coming through. Price, Dan and Jack Peace and Toby Martyn for instance have all shown that they are names for the future and there will be local interest with home rider Iwan Roberts always capable of running with the best.
