A Busy Gas Gas Round-up

Firstly iZtc 1452Nikita Smitht was the all important start of the 2014 World Trials Championship in Australia which our two JST GGUK riders Michael Brown and Alexz Wigg were fighting fit for. Michael was especially confident after his great win last weekend at the BTC.

Michael does not make excuses so when I saw the result of a bad 11th place after day 1 I knew something had happened. After speaking to Michael via text he said that he had real bad tendonitis in his wrist in practice on Friday. This I found strange because it was fine at the BTC last weekend. It has obviously come on really quickly because he rode Saturday with it strapped up and with pain killers and even more strapping and pain killers on the Sunday to finish a shocking 14th.

Ive yet to speak to Michael but will do when I collect him from the airport tomorrow morning. Ive had tendonitis in my wrist before and its horrible and would be nearly impossible to ride at WTC level. I guess he will have to keep it fully immobilized until Japan in two weeks time.

Alexz Wigg had an encouraging start to his WTC campaign finishing 12th on Saturday and 11th on Sunday.

Back on UK soil we had Round 2 of the Youth BTC where on form JSTGGUK rider Dan Peace won the A Class again, even with a broken bone in his hand!

His brother Jack finished 4th in the B Class and looked liked a bad five cost him dearly at this easy event. However JSTGG/Kelcoat rider Sam Yeomans has his first B Class win so big congrats to him and family.

At the same event as the youth was also Round 2 of the women’s BTC and GG girl Nikita Smith kept the GG flag flying with a great podium result in the main women’s class behind Becky and Emma. JST GG girl Katy Sunter chose to ride the S3 Chris Carter Trial instead which is better preparation for the upcoming SSDT.

JST rider Joanne Coles was busy with College work.

The S3 parts National Championship continued up in Yorkshire at the Chris Carter superbly organised by the Yeadon & Guisley MCC who delivered a great trial with perfect sections for this Championship. Unfortunately for this weekend GG riders were blown away by bloody Betas haha! Best GG rider was my buddy Martin Crosswaite in 5th and on form JST rider Dan Thorpe finished 7th which did not reflect how well he was riding. An unlucky five in the first group where stubbing his toe stopped him dead for a quick five and a stalled engine cost him for an even quicker five in the next group. Dan was gutted at the finish because he went there to win but ‘lady luck’ was defo not with him yesterday!

I too ‘took my bike for a walk’ round the Carter with no flashes of brilliance whatsoever but I still quite enjoyed the ride round especially in the sun J.  SSDT training not going to plan….

Next S3 round is the Lomax Easter Monday.
