Youth Season Off To a Good Start For OSET

It Harry Hemingway At 2014 British Youth CD Championship Round 1 - ScarboroughHarry Hemingwaywas business as usual for team OSET at the British youth trials championship this weekend.  Picking up where they left off last season, the electric bike manufacturer secured the top six places.

Taking the win and dropping only four dabs was the unflappable Harry Hemingway – an outstanding ride in anyone’s book!  Harry Turner and Dominic Horne were separated by only three points to take second and third on the all-OSET podium.

The three boys on the podium all started their trialling career competing in the OSET Cup, which is proving to become a great feeder championship for competing at national level.

6 year Myles Hutchinson had an awesome ride. His first competitive national event and dropping only 35 marks – just 10 off a podium place!  And not far behind was little George Hemingway, who like his brother takes everything in his stride.  Riding up a class and dropping just 42 marks is an incredible achievement.

Bradley Calvert from the Isle of Man came in as the sixth placed OSET rider, just in front of Bobby Moyer, who’d also made the journey across the water to compete in his first national.  Looking at the distribution of marks dropped highlights the competitiveness of this year’s D-Class small wheels.  It’s wide open and with Harry Hemo aside, podium places could potentially be taken by any of these youngsters as the championship progresses.

With 11 out of the 15 finishers on OSET Bikes –the machine of choice for this class has to be an OSET.  Lightweight, nimble, reliable and the perfect size, if you’re looking for a podium finish, OSET is the way to go.

As well as a great turn out of riders from the Isle of Man, the Southern Series OSET Cup provided three entries, Sophie Bailey (the only girl in class), Connor Heathfield and Stefan Mewett- Richardson who all learnt an incredible amount.

Ian Smith, founder of OSET Bikes, said: “After a relatively quiet winter, OSET riders are back with a bang!  It’s unprecedented for a manufacturer to take the top six places at a national round and we’re delighted so many competitors have chosen OSET bikes to compete on.  It’s great for the sport of trials that the entry level is so high.  We’re pleased that by competing in the OSET Cups and supporting clubs around the UK, young riders have the confidence to ride at the highest level.”

OSET Bikes was on hand throughout the event to support its riders but found only moral support was needed as there were no mechanical issues with any of the bikes.

Ian added: “The guys at Scarborough DMC put on a fantastic event.  The course was set perfectly to challenge and test all aspects of the riders’ abilities.  A great venue and a great trial!”
