Bewdley MCC Clumbman Series Final Round

The Bewdley Motor Cycle organised their third and final round of their Clubman and Beginners Trial series at the popular Shatterford venue and the club's thanks must go to the landowner for allowing us to use the ground.

As in the two previous rounds, the club received another large entry for the event and the course plotters did not disappoint the riders, providing all three classes with an enjoyable evenings sport.

Riding the A Route, Kidderminster's Jim Pickering (Drayton Bantam) and Richard Jones (Beta), could not be separated at the finish, both completing the course without loss of marks, but Nigel Spronson (Gas Gas), was hot on their heels. Spronson kept a clean sheet until he visited section three on his final lap, when a lapse of concentration saw him lose just a single mark, relegating him to the final podium spot. Just missing out on a podium finishes, were Josh Borden (Gas Gas) and Bewdley's Ken Edwards (Gas Gas), losing four and five marks respectively.

The B Route did provide the organisers with a clear winner, but it was by the slenderest of margins. Phil Pearce (Bantam) and local Road Racer Guy Taylor (Beta), rode head to head all evening, with Pearce coming out on top by a single mark. Rounds one and two B Class winner Dave Taylor (BSA), hoped for a hat trick of wins, bit an uncharacteristic stall on section three, saw his chance of that hat trick disappear. Schoolgirl and Bewdley Club member Elizabeth Tett (Beta), continued her fast improving form, finishing in a fine fourth position, but Stourport's Kevin Waldron (Gas Gas), also a member of the organising club, pushed her all the way and the tie break came into use once again. Far Forest schoolboy and another Bewdley member, Liam Carney (Beta), finished a further mark adrift and completed the leader board, with a fine sixth position.

The C Route also provided two riders on similar marks lost. Tom Deeley (Gas Gas) and Scot Draper riding an electric powered OSET, both completed the event on four marks lost, with the tie break going the way of Deeley. Schoolboy George Yardley (Gas Gas) and Mark Lane (Beta), also battled throughout evening, but Yardley gained the verdict over Lane, who lost an additional mark on section seven, observered by Expert trials rider Kevin Taylor. The final leader board positions went to Schoolboys Luke Pearson riding a 50cc Beta and Ethan Richardson (OSET), who finished the event separated by only single mark.
