Gas Gas Trip To The Trials Academy

Ztc 5540Michael Brown in action at the Trials AcademyA great Team performance yesterday at Round 4 of the British Trials Championship organised by the Edinburgh and District MCC at the superb Bob MacGregor Trials Academy which I must say is very impressive and hats off to Iain Shankie and whoever else has grafted at this venue which is tailor made for Trials. Anyone who has not been needs to go!  http://www.trialsacademy.co.uk. The club did a perfect job with the sections and the severity was spot on. Constant showers made for slippery conditions so the scores would have been lower if dry or very wet.

I was well pleased with the Team yesterday having four GG riders in the Top 7 was very good. No.1 JSTGGUK rider Michael Brown rode well in second but was out-ridden by James Dabill who was the worthy winner yesterday. Michael made too many mistakes but finished strong with the best lap of the day losing only 5 marks on the last lap. He often has a ‘bogey’ section and this week it was section 5 which he fived all three laps. He was also very unlucky to snap the tape on section 10 on the first lap. He flew up the hill climb at the start but broke the tape with his handle bar on the middle part which was just unlucky. Shame the tape was not replaced in the same place.

Next best JST rider was Alexz Wigg who was on the podium again in third. Wiggy is trying so hard this year and gives 100%. Sam Haslam (JSTGG) finished 6th and had some awesome rides and it showed that he has spent a bit more time on his bike since the last round. Sam has committed himself to being Michaels minder at WTC this year so he hasn’t ridden as much as would have liked.

R+T GG rider Jack Price had another good BTC result in 7th. After his last two good BTC rides Jack has lifted himself to 9th in the Championship. If he keeps grinding he’ll continue to improve.

JSTGGUK rider Jack Stones struggled in 20th.

JSTGGUK Youth rider Dan Peace had a fantastic ride easily winning the Youth Class and actually would have been second overall in the Expert Class. Lap scores of 19,5,6 showed that after a dodgy first lap Dan was in awesome form.

Thanks to Kev for prepping Michaels immaculate 300 Rep

Shirty

PS, Well done to GG Girl Katy Sunter who finished on the podium in 3rd at her local Richmond Club Women’s BTC.

GG rider Louise Alford again won the Girls A Class.

Nikita Smith continues to improve in Hospital

PPS. Get well soon Dan Thorpe who has twisted his ankle badly after a football incident. I hope it improves enough for his next event at the French 4 Day Trial.
