Sidecar Championship Penultimate Round

Daryl Dale Hannah EtheringtonDaryl Dale & Hannah EtheringtonThe penultimate event of the A.C.U. Luscombe SAAB Leeds sponsored British Sidecar Championship will take place on Saturday at Burwarton on Saturday.  An entry of seventeen sidecars crews will battle for points in the closing stages of the 2014 championship series.

In the Expert Championship Jon Tuck and Matt Sparkes have a comfortable thirty nine point lead over Daryl Dale and Hannah Etherington. The crucial point is that the Kimbers did not score at the Tuck Cross in May so their drop score is sorted. Not so Tuck and Dale.  That means no drop score and all to play for on Saturday and at the grand finale at Hook Woods at the end of November.

In the Intermediate Class things are closer with Robbie Head and Aaron Jacobs hanging in on one hundred and twenty seven points with Karl Jarvis and Bob Chapman lurking three points down. David Tuck and Steve Chandler make up the Inter trio.

In the Clubman class the Yorkshire pairing of Chris and Robert on a precarious one hundred and forty two points.  The Pickards are only three points in front of Southampton based Simon Evans and Nick Harding. The latter halted the winning streak of Skipton brothers. Paul Fishlock and Debbie Merrell got their four stroke Beta into third place. Veteran chair crew Phil Sparkes and passenger Kevin Parnell could just upset the form book as could Alistair Allan and Nick George.

The course features eight groups of sections totalling in all thirty two very varied streams, climbs, muddy banks, some featuring tree roots. The centre of operations is the Boyne Arms at Burwarton. One special attractions is a bacon sandwich and coffee or tea prior – free, before the  first crew start at 10.01 am. South Birmingham always consider the essentials !!
